Thanks! I had meant to post this in the Solo thread, not sure how I got here!

And now for something completely different.

Hey gang, I'm hoping for thoughts/suggestions on replacing a broken hose on my 681. I'm not sure of part number, even after looking through manual here. I'm also not sure about sourcing a suitable replacement, or how difficult the replacement procedure is. Pics of saw, how things should look...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Well I put two tanks of gas through the Shindy today. Crazy power, although I have never used a backpack blower before, so I have nothing to compare it to. It did an amazing job on several years worth of dense Pitch pine needles, and eleventy billion White oak leaves. My poor elbow is screaming...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Interesting, and that makes sense. Yes, I can set throttle to any position. If I ever discover the location of the adjustment screws, I might fiddle with it a bit. I'll likely wait until I've run several tanks of gas through her.

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Holy CRAP!! WHY have I not purchased a backpack blower until now?!?! Started on second pull, let it warm up for a few minutes, and let 'er rip. It's been raining all night, and still sprinkling now, so not ideal time to be blowing, but I had to see how it ran at least. What an absolute BEAST...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

So, they screwed up the order, so I placed a new one for a totally different unit.... Shindaiwa EB810RT! ;) Here's a question for you... I run my saws at 40:1, is this going to be ok in this blower? I have the "D" tools to adjust carb, if necessary, though I'd certainly rather not, at least at...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Elbow be damned, I decided to take advantage of the Home Depot "30-day free demo" policy on gas-powered equipment. :eusa_liar: :eusa_whistle: Just ordered the much-suggested Echo... Don't get me wrong, hopefully I love it and it is just the ticket for Dad's place, in which case I'll keep it...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Not really. I will need the ability to get into some right spaces. Might have to hire it out, or just bag it for this year.

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Ugh, me too... Doc just told me I can't lift more than a cup of coffee with my right hand until I get an MRI to see if I need surgery. Looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit.

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Yes, I'm definitely getting that there is a theme here about that Echo. Unfortunately, I'm not having any luck finding them locally so far. It's looking like one of the rentals will be my only choice this time around.

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

That's a good point. The Stihl is at a great local equipment dealer, large and small, and they rent all kinds of stuff. The Makita is at Home Depot, where I've had good and bad experience...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

oops! first reply didn't show, so call me the President of the Redundancy Department of Redundancy! Mainly because I've never used a backpack blower, and really don't know how well it will work on the needles etc at Dad's place. I'm hearing so much love for that Echo that I'm looking to take...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Frankly, as I've never used a backpack blower, I have no idea how well it will work on his pine needles. If it works well, a purchase may well be following, for next season.

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Heh heh, I'm trying to avoid that. Then again, this may very well be a two-day dealio, so if the first one "blows" I can always try the other...

So you have used both? I'm guessing the Stihl would be more powerful on those needles...

Help me pick a backpack blower to rent

Hey gang, I'm looking for some thoughts on a backpack blower I'm thinking of renting to work on my Dad's yard. There are two places that rent them for similar price, these are the choices; Stihl BR600 or Makita BBX7600N Back yard is pine needle city, and front is not a huge issue as it has...
