    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

From some of the pictures in this post it looks as if in order to drill my shroud to place the decomp valve access hole, I need to drill perhaps inline with the black stripe https://opeforum.com/threads/another-hybrid-build.24368/#post-1247167 but maybe slightly forward.....and possibly...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Don't worry. They are chamfered really well and very smooth on the rings.? I have vivid memories of a Yam 175MX bike I ported 35 year ago. Made the EXH too wide..... no about of chamferring would stop it eating rings every 400 miles. Bloody shame, it went like stink! Nearly got the thing back...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

The INL was widened to about 32mm and lowered floor to 79-80. As said I had a lot of work with various files and burrs and JB weld to get the entry bore to be like a stock one. Check out the filling at the roof:- I mainly just cleaned the transfers, and flared the lead-in on the INL side of...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

@drf256 Hi mate, TBH I've already done ahead and done the porting I wanted to do. So any measurements won't really be useful now. You're dead right with your theory re. short piston and lower exhaust height. These hyway kits are truly horrid IMHO. I had to do a lot of work just to get started...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Yeah... I know. I'm outta practice! Lol. Re measured it earlier, it's 122. So I guess I got EXH 99 INL 77 TRN 122 23* of blowdown should be fine, yeah? I've already widened the EXH and lowered it. Try and do photos tomorrow. Any ideas for the INL degree wise? I don't really want too high...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Thanks. I'll check that when I go back to the workshop. I guess I could have accidentally done that measurement relative to BDC not TDC,

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

That sounds plausible. I did think it through the other day. I mean - were I to effectively zero the floor with the skirt at TDC, i.e. "on the edge" of a free port, then it's gonna take only like a degree or so until it's sealed back so probably not the end of the world. Anyway I've degreed it...

Wow. I never knew that! Thanks for your help. I'll go ahead.

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Thanks Huskihl, So you reckon that if I ground that floor a bit (say 1.5mm) it wouldn't really hurt it? Out of interest have you ever free-ported a saw or got damn close and still ended up with a decent machine? thanks Matt

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Just before BDC, crown flush with floor: and now at BDC piston crown is below EXH floor. so I'll ask my question again. If I have about 1.8mm of the bottom of the skirt overlapping the jug below the floor at TDC, how much can I grind off the floor before I risk wrecking the engine by free...

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Mil I've gotta be honest. I'm not that impressed with the jug. But it's what I've got, and as it's just a play, destress me from my day job, I'm cool with continue to play. BTW that piston crown is definitely below the floor at BDC. Will get a piccy in the next day or 2.

    Yet Another 044 hybrid project

Hello again OPE forum, So hello again, I'm the crazy Brit who did the 044 hybrid back in 2017/18 with a 10mm wristpin case. Grinding the crankcases to give the 12mm crank the clearance etc. etc. Well about 4 years ago, I bought another 044 this time a 12mm model, and I was even more crazy and...

    MS150 oil leak issue

Yeah. I think this one must've somehow got the pump actually disconnected from the oil channel. Cos apparently is pi$$s oil everywhere, but the bar runs dry. I dunno, I aint looked at it or the manual yet. Guess I'll just tear down (probably next weekend) and post back what I discover.

    MS150 oil leak issue

Hi people, I've just had an ms150 dropped round. Guy says it leaks bar oil real bad, and none is delivered to the chain. Bear in mind, I've just received it, so not started it, or even started to look it, but I just wondered, like, is it a common fault on this saw, and as such, are there any...

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

Any ideas what kind of astronomical sum we may get for it, if we choose to ebay it as "Spares and repair".......or would we be better off just keeping to one side as a workshop door stop? Or as a weapon to hit a burglar with?

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

Yeah, I thought as much Simon. Fortunately it looks as if I don't need to go there on this saw. Thanks for all your help this far!

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

I have to agree with you right there. Working on that thing was one of the most unpleasant mechanical experiences I had for a while. No use of standard fittings - mixture of allen head, hex heads 7,8,10 mm, slot heads, :ambulance:the impulse port was 3/4 quarter circular + 1/4 flat so I...

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

Well I informed the owner yesterday, that with all due consideration, we should just our losses, and spend no more time/money on this saw. He seemed ok on this. But for one last question....can someone tell me what I should do, for future reference, if I get husky in that I need to remove the...

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

Hmm....ok, I guess (I don't know for sure - as I've not tackled them properly), i.e. I chickened out and left the starter cover on, that the other surface is like this? Correct? In that case, it seems that yes the rubber joint is flexing before the thread holding the cover down breaks free...

    Husqvarna 142 basic carb settings

Out of interest, can anyone shed any light at all, on this issue with the start cover......i.e. how does one actually "unscrew" the 2 screws which go into the AV lugs? Is the fact that they won't come out easily indicative of an issue? Or is it just a case of "you're not doing it right, Matt".
