Will get a video or two up . Got the YZ125 ripping nicely with the 17" b/c with Oregon 50AL .404 .050 chisel bit chain. Also busy getting back into axe throwing and chopping. Found a Gilles Levesque Tuatahi 6 pounder.

Funny you guys mention split throttle control for oil pump and carb. I've been running that setup on my hotsaws for over 40 years.

To be honest I'm not sure what he did internally to the carb. Only I know he removed the bombsight in the venturi and replaced it with a short atomizer nozzle pipe. As soon as the butterfly shaft rotates fuel pressure is released out of that pipe. It's a pretty strong pumper carb.

Thanks. Yes totally different carb then the original. This modified Mikuni jetski carb and the one on my YZ125 came all the way from southern California. No float, has H and L adjustment screws like on a chainsaw and has instant WOT response. This CR250 carb is only 1mm larger venturi then the...

Site looks different after been away for almost a month. I booted the 084 and 090 out the door back to their owner after going through them. I didn't have to pull the 084 cylinder as I was able to take pics through the exhaust port and spark plug hole. Way back in 1987-'88 Madsen's did put 4...

It's been 40 years since Madsen's modded my then 090 so I forgot what all they did to it Lol. They made the cylinder some what a open port transfer ducts and put in 2 finger ports. Piston was modified with .080" off the intake skirt and the 2 top edges to the transfers were milled to promote a...

1980's HOTSAW BARN FIND Actually they're saws my old cut and skid logging partner Leo just pulled out of 35 years of storage. He ran them both one afternoon 6 years ago. The 084 he bought brand new from Madsen's in 1988. Madsen's built the pipe and Leo is not sure what else they did to the...

Chris, I had to Google vicariously, that's a great expressive word to add to my auto correct vocabulary :D Cutting cookies in competition is entirely different from running a chainsaw felling or bucking up a tree on the ground. Cold start hotsaw racing takes alot of practice but experience...

I look back to post #1 of this thread starting almost exactly 3 years ago. Wow we shared alot of information and I started the projects 1 year before that. I'm in the saw shed at the moment with the heat turned up and thinking of the 6 months of deep snow and -30°- 40°below starting any day...

    Willard's vintage Hotsaw Builds

I got a 5 inch diameter rope spool pulley coming out of Quebec. If you look close at the tiny decompressor hole in the combustion chamber in above pic, my builder says I can drill it out double the size if needed. If that's not enough he'll install my spare decompressor valve. I found out over...
