Funny you guys mention split throttle control for oil pump and carb. I've been running that setup on my hotsaws for over 40 years.

To be honest I'm not sure what he did internally to the carb. Only I know he removed the bombsight in the venturi and replaced it with a short atomizer nozzle pipe. As soon as the butterfly shaft rotates fuel pressure is released out of that pipe. It's a pretty strong pumper carb.
