    The Husky 42/42 special/242/246 thread

Typically open port cylinders are bottom fed and don't need a windowed piston but the 42 is side fed open port so it would seem that it would benefit from the windows.

I believe those flags with the triple cross bars were intended to go with the full wrap.

    Anyone familiar with this lathe

That's a honkin' huge 4 jaw for a lathe that size, lol. Be extra careful of fingers and whatnot down by the ways especially when the jaws are extended out past flush...

    Husqvarna 234se piston options

Picture got cut off, near the bottom shows part # for a 133 piston which should be the same as a 234. The stated spec of 12mm from pin to top seems suspect...

HELP! Anyone use CBN wheels for grinding chain?

Looked like you were replying to the post just previous to yours with the $300 wheel.

Chainsaw grinder questions, tips, tricks, and pics!!!!

I think you're misunderstanding the term ‘multiple axis’ grind. The wheel profile there is likely only a small part of the picture. Your grinder only goes in to the cutter and back out on one axis/plane, so the radius is dictated by the wheel profile. With use of multiple axis, a production...

Stihl chain with odd undercut cutters

Doubt It's race stuff with the bumpers still there, was a homeowner saw that he got from his brother in law so no real details of origin. Was rocked pretty bad and I had to grind quite a bit off to clean up, I should have taken a pic first, the undercut was very pronounced with the closer to...

    Let’s build a Husky 350.

That part # at Firedog is the Husqvarna # for the whole kit... They also list 544142907 for $111, which I think is the typically less expensive non decomp version , though it shows a decomp on the ipl. Who needs decomp on 50cc anyway, one more thing to fail...

    100+ CC Saw Options

If I were to run brakeless if anything I'd prefer a big saw with a big bar. It's the little snappy ones that're most likely to get you...

    That Will Buff, Won't It

It's not that hard to repair chains without special equipment. Just grind/file the rivet heads flush and the links fall right out and then peen the new heads over tapping round and round with a ballpeen hammer. Breaker/spinner setup is really just a convenience...

HELP! Anyone use CBN wheels for grinding chain?

The ragged edges are mostly just the plating that flakes right off as soon as it sees wood. Grind off some plating near the edges before sharpening like the race guys do and it might be easier to compare results. It would seem that a finer edge would hold up longer though, how much longer is the...

    Part Three: The Transfer Ports

IIRC why he didn't alter the uppers was because the timing was good where they were so he didn't need to. One of those 'unicorn' cylinders or whatever... I've mostly messed with lowers for direction as opposed to volume but there's something to be said there as to velocity also. I've always...

HELP! Anyone use CBN wheels for grinding chain?

I've been using a Diamond wheel cbn for a good number of years now and have been very happy with it, runs cooler than any stone wheel I've tried, leaves a nice finish and has held up well. That said, there's been a bunch of these threads over the years and there's always a few people unsatisfied...
