Yup think of it this way, back in the 1960's was a "jump" in HP technology, a powerful diesel of that period was in the 2000 hp range and DC traction motors. In the 1970's the sd40's & EMD's 645's pushed that to a reliable 3000hp, now they are in the 4000hp range. ONE of those GE's have both...

    Lil Red Barn

SOME , not all of those old saws had a "thin" flat ring design, nothing from the aftermarket "ring" manufacturers fit. I had used a golf on one, a little ugly buy they work fine and use a more conventional ring design. Funny thing is I've used VEC pistons in pro applications for prolly 15 years...

    Husqvarna 562XP - A Tale of Woe

A quick overview, those "numbers" are about how long the solenoid stays closed in units of time. SO the lower the number the less time closed, more open therefore more fuel available to be "carbureted" :) It's STILL a carburetor. Conversely the LARGER the number the LONGER the solenoid stays...

    What's for lunch?

Was off in another world for a bit :) AND our dinner table was the track of an excavator that lives in that building :) And TY BTW Bob , certainly a step up from the Coleman and iron pan! Still hard to beat those fires we had years past.

    OK, didn't see this coming

Wonder what the cost difference is , a clean 281 vs. a Stihl 500i. Fuel usage as well. My 281 actually isn't a fuel hog. And the value of having a saw fixable w/o dealer intervention. Think cookies are cool , but the cost of ownership/living with it vs. tree's on the landing over time type...

    Husqvarna 562XP - A Tale of Woe

Respect you, not buying this. Don't really have a horse in the race as I'm not selling either saws or services. just have a little "documented" experience, receipts tangible vs. hearsay. I've built saws from 1970's and 1980's even 371 1990's era chassis with the original skf steel caged...

    Saw shop closing in CNY

Two shops up there I understand, I talked to the Addy's folks and they are not really interested in selling or supporting the saws, tractors are their main business. SO I'm not going to try to push a string :)

    Let’s see some stumps

Three scenario's. First "What I prefer to do", Second took away a couple of pieces & had a "flat" stump with predictable results, third heavy hinge w/ no bore cut from the front, again with less predictable but in reality very predictable in this maple stuff results. :)

Keep those pics coming! Document some of the local history :) The CSX has had several of the "Heritage" Locomotives going back and forth, I've tryed to "capture" them on the channel. Got some, not all.

    Let’s see some stumps

Hinge back into the tree closer to center & conventional cut from the back to chase the hinge...pulled out as the bar didn't get thru. NO trigger as I was chasing the hinge. As I went to reposition stuff, it decided to go... a bunch of stuff to be derived from this video.... :)

    Let’s see some stumps

Here , for the "Humboldt" types :) Works with relatively "brittle" Red Oak where it would create fiber pulls like crazy on Ash/Maple :)
