Coyotes are mean critters. They pretty much had fox wiped out here for about a decade. Reds came back some but haven't saw a grey for many years. Coyote hunters have helped a lot. Trappers can't afford long lining with little to nothing fur values. Was a guy catching 100 + a year until about 2...
Nothing wrong with a 20" bar on the 026 platform. I had an pro I used that way in 3/8 until I sold it. Wasn't disappointed in the least but to me the 60cc platform is ideal w/20" so I keep an 16" on my 026 as I have an 034 and 036 W/20" I use a lot.
A good choke that fully closes well, I believe is the biggest reason a saw starts well. A good working primer bulb compensates on equipment that has them . I have had numerous times something that didn't want to fire, put my finger or thumb over the carb inlet and give it 1 pull and it fires. Of...
Never had a 5. Had 4's. Not many, primarily for beaver here. I trapped 2 winters in Washington state in the 1980's. Had some bobcat and lynx sets out there.
I think I have 1or more. Definitely have several # 3. Put the bulk of what I have away decades ago . They should be in great shape. Most my coyote and fox traps were fine tuned , boiled and waxed when I used them. Probably wouldn't hurt to sell some off.
I shipped an O26 to WA through the post office about 6 month ago, little under $50 from IN. Some guys have a thing called pirate shipping , they get a discount. Shipping cost suck nowadays.
I used 1 of those to cut firewood years ago. I was impressed with its stock power and smoothness.
I believe they are hard to find and that's a good price for the buyer.
I put the bar up for sale with 3 or more chains to help move the chains. Still have the chains so I want to hold on the bar unless I sell most the chains.
Thanks for your interest.
I noticed on at least a few saws 8 pin used significantly less fuel then 7. Therefore I cut more firewood per tank and seemed to make better time getting a pickup truck load of wood . If it is dogging your saw to much for what you are doing
then I would go 7.
I don't buy into skip...
0lder stihls I typically prefer starting the longer days with a freshly fully clean filter ( removed and cleaned gently with air) . At nearly every refill of a full tank of gas, pop the cover, tap the filter and turn the saw so that the loose debris can fall out aided by a few puffs of breath...
