I try to always my wear chainsaw pants, chainsaw boots and helmet with eye (wire mesh) & ear protection included. I am just a hobby firewood cutter with ~ half a dozen chords per year. 7

Comment in a german thread by a dealer that has run a demo model. "WOT a tick less powerful than the 461. In low rpm range under load a bit less powerful than the 461. But without load, for stihl, a quite agressiv character. " 7

Never heard before of needing to drill out anything on midly modded saws! Typically there are a few screws named "H, L, T " which are turned in or out to make a saw run properly. Looks like new carb time. Sounds more like the carb needing a proper cleaning before instead of any drilling. 7

Already a day old this thread and no hands on experience so far... very disapointing thread... :D The 4300 won't have much chance against a 242, which runs 15500! But I believe it won't be much behind. 7

Electric saws are great! I am a big fan of my Makita 2000W electric saw. 7

They have been doing that since the beginning. Probably the most copied saw ever is the Zenoah G5000. Now being chinese modified with varying ccm and outside plastic. 7

Re: wear Well we have had enough rebuild documentations over the years here and in other forums that would have shown this misterious wear on the shaft or con rod bearings. Well I cannot remember a single mentioning of such a situation. Maybe one of the big modders/rebuilders here can say...

What type of wear are we talking about? These are not cut off saws that are exposed to materials as hard or harder than the aluminum inside the engine. These saws still easily survive 2-4 years of proffesional use so all this lamenting is simply laughable. Further the saws of past decades have...

First off, I see the paranoia of minute amount of dust passing through the engine with every stroke as way overblown. Obviously, although everyone wants the perfect filtration, these saws run non worse in comparison to other models. Most even rave how much better they are compared to the prior...
