    371xp Restoration

I picked up this 1997 371xp in really dirty condition but after a thorough clean realised it was quite good. The muffler was cracked completely so I fitted a new OEM muffler. All I have to do now is fit a new chain brake handle and a new air filter. I’ve always wanted the 371! Anyone no a good...

    046 what year

My father brought a 046 brand new in 1996 and it got passed down to me, I’ll check it’s serial number when I get home and let you know. That could give you a rough idea of the model

    064, 066 MS650, MS660 info thread

I see your point but would the aluminium flywheel make any difference to how the 1314 coil “picks up” ?

    064, 066 MS650, MS660 info thread

It may be mentioned here somewhere already but I have a friends 066 with the 1122 400 1307 coil that has failed, he also has a dead ms660 with a good coil and it has the 1314 coil, can I swap this with no issues? Thanks in advance.

Buy used old saw or new cheap one?

something like the ms170 would be perfect, my first saw was a stihl 017 new back in 2001 and it is the same as the ms170, that saw has been bullet proof, and overall ive done a lot of work with it, yes it cuts a bit slow and yes you have to clean the air filter very regular but such a good saw...

    husqvarna 572 service manual

Kinda glad it has an inboard clutch, I don't mind the outboard style but inboard can be a little less hassle.

    044 stumbles at idle....

It never was cooked so to speak but it was the original piston and had quite a bit of wear as this is a high hour saw, so it was more a case of giving it a freshen up.

    044 stumbles at idle....

hi there, just an update if anyone is interested, i have fixed the issue with this saw!! and as mentioned above i defiantly need to invest in a pressure/vac tester so as it turns out i had an air leak coming from the cylinder base, you see i done a base gasket delete to this saw and it happened...

    044 stumbles at idle....

one other thing, I was looking online at carbs for the 044 and including HLsupply website and I noticed they have a universal carb that will bolt onto a 044 and 046 but when I compared the carb off this 044 to the 046 carb it has a smaller throat size ?

    044 stumbles at idle....

I just wanted to give an update on this saw, so I completely removed fuel tank and thoroughly checked fuel hose and intake boot, they are perfect, the tank vet breaths to. I then replaced crank seals and checked crank movement while I was at it, there was no movement and bearings spin smoothly...
