I can't see any deterioration. I figure that the small amount of fuel that may end up there will be dried off by airflow quickly. I wouldn't use it on the wet side of the carb but for air I don't have any qualms.
Not sure how different the 272xp intake elbow is but I modeled and 3D printed a custom one for a 288xp. Still holding up great after 9 months.

My 288 had the optional Twin Air filter setup on it which was cool except for the fact that it was completely deteriorated. Since finding one of those filters was near impossible I started looking for some options. I found a filter that seemed to be close enough to fitting so I bought it and it...
I know he had it apart and replaced the clutch bearing. When he had the clutch off I doubt he lined up the oil gear arm in the clutch drum slot. Would be have slipped into place just from the drum spinning or would it have potentially spun non stop even when the chain was stopped? If it would...
Buddy of mine said his saw seems to have a whirring noise on the clutch side. I couldn't hear much but I'm not used to his saw. I checked the compression and it's at 150psi, piston/cylinder look good. Crank doesn't move but being the clutch is super oily. See the picture. Is this normal on these...
I've recently struck up a deal to haul off a local mill's scrap. They deal with larger timbers so what they can use from a log is less than a typical mill which is a plus for me. The length of each piece ranges from 14'-20' so there is a lot of wood in each slice. The sawyer sets aside anything...
Finally got my Chinese muffler after waiting a month. Found a piece of pipe roughly the same diameter as the one on the muffler (.600") and used my Dremel to open up the case. I've never brazed anything in my life but my mig welder is out of commission so that's what I had at my disposal. It's...
On my 288xp the factory twin air filter was disintegrating and I went with a dual layer filter. The top squashes it a bit but the filter area is still really big. I cut the neck down a bit to help the height.

My presence lever and trigger broke off while cutting and I got a key to replace them. While test fitting everything I felt like it wasn't going to work well if at all. The pieces just didn't seem to mesh at all. I threw the thing together springs and all and no matter what position I held the 2...
How are the cheap mufflers for these saws? Looks like the outlet is a little small but that could be changed easily enough. I'd rather hack an aftermarket muffler than my OEM one.
