    Wolf Ridge Splitter

I'm using a SuperSplit. I've filed the top of the wedge corner blunt after occasionally back handing it and pealing some skin. I guess I should be wearing gloves. The leading edge is factory finish, which is not sharp, but not rounded like a dull pencil either.

Any one made something like this

Edit: My sharpening has taken a huge bump in improvement this year, attributed to the vise, Stihl 2-1 file system, and Buckin-Billy Rae YouTube videos, about "getting the gullet". He also indicates the teeth do not have to be all the same length to cut straight, which I've found to be true.

Stihl measuring tool for perfect cuts, adapt to any chainsaw

I saw a youtube video sometime back with a Husqvarna version that hinges out of the way when not needed.

    FOUND IT Stock stihl 661

I have one I no longer use. ms661 c-m 06/15/2016 181570882 I've cut maybe sixty cord total of firewood with it. -Some large oak, 25" bar one winter, maybe 15 cord. -40 plus cord of smaller stuff on my log deck w/18" bar when my 357xp was down with a sucking air issue. A guy replaced the carb...

    The Official Log Splitter thread

Two reason off hand. The four-way does not raise high enough to do that, to make small splits off the top, not even close on the TW-6. It is a slip on wedge. The reason the single wedge is so wide (certainly requiring additional tonnage) is because the four-way lift cylinder is positioned...

    The Official Log Splitter thread

I hope you completely enjoy your splitter. Just saying, as shown in the second and third picture, the assumed trajectory of the top two pieces with a factory wing completely misses the outfeed table, to the side, and also to the rear, either being a bugger to deal with, and wrestle around...

    The Official Log Splitter thread

Johnmn: Nice looking splitter. But two things I don't get with this design. One, the outfeed table should be as long as the splits in case you want to raise the wedge and pull them back to resplit. Two, is the small forward swept four-way wedge wings. Seems everyone uses this design which...

    Wallenstein Processor wp840

Check out YouTube: Ohio Wood Burner Ltd videos. He uses a Japa 365 Pro (road). He originally used a Dyna sc12, but it did not have an adjustable height four-way wedge. There are dozens of his videos.

    Wallenstein Processor wp840

I've never run a processor but like the idea of the euro designed pto three point hitch set up. I like that the shield over the splitter trough is really accessible, and covered when in use. The reason they are three point hitch is something about our epa standards for importing the engines...

    Wallenstein Processor wp840

I've owned a TW-6, and sold it. Good machine for what it is, but old design. I did a four-way wedge mod two weeks after purchase, making it into a flat table to hold top splits, rather than pushing them onto the ground or outfeed table. I have seen Eastonmade at the Paul Bunyan Show. They are...

    Wallenstein Processor wp840

Look at the whole picture, and walk yourself through each step. Ask yourself how you work. Do you bring the equipment to the wood, or the wood to the equipment? That determines what you need. Cutting up a sheet of 4' x 8' plywood. Do you need a skill saw and saw horses, or a table saw? What is...

    New 562 xp

Wednesday it was in the mid 80's and very humid. Probably the hardest I've run the saw noodling Oak to get on the splitter. I was at the wife's family cottage cleaning up a pile of dirt clogged logs that sat for a year. They're having a new septic system placed where these logs were piled...

I cut/split a cord yesterday, and again today, but the temp was only 75° and a nice breeze. No issues. Running an 18" bar. One thing I forgot to mention was someones suggestion to let it idle for a few seconds before shutting it off, which I now do. I'm also using 'recreation fuel' or non...

    New 562 xp

I started this tread June 1, 2020, with a brand spanking new saw (built this year), and hot start issues. Today is July 19th. I've cut about 1/2 to 3/4 cord each day in June. Temps consistently in the 80's to low 90's. The hot start issue is gone. The saw was not modified. What was modified...

    Old man down the road.....done

It has been a very warm, humid stretch. I'm feeling old many day, and have grown a bit soft. Can't imagine what 80 years old feels like.

    Working on the rounds stack

I tried several ways before coming up with flipping a pallet over, upside down, for more surface contact on the bottom. Then place a bundle turned 90° to the bottom pallet, so the stringers are perpendicular to the pallet stringers below. And double stagger, so the top pallet sits on the center...

    New 562 xp

I was extremely frustrated with this saw. That's why I blogged here. Not to complain, but to get suggestions to approach the issue. I'm no longer having issues with hot starts, and have cut on 80°-94° days doing about 15 full cord. I shade the nursery wagon from direct sun with the saw and...

    New 562 xp

I forgot to note the fuel bulb, which none of my other saws have. I used this too, as suggested to recirculate cooler fuel from the tank, and I'm sure it helps. I typically do not cut during July do to high temps. We are getting some spikes in June. I'm still cutting because I have two 20 cord...
