    Stihl FS80R any good?

I've had numerous FS85's - I also had one FS80 that I bought used about 19 years ago. They were chalk & cheese to use. The early FS85's didn't vent well in hot climates, so were an absolute PITA to re start after stopping to re fuel, or rewind line onto. Apart from that, they really rocked. My...

PRO Hedge Trimmers- Single VS Double sided?

I can't think of any pro's for a single sided hedge trimmer. I have an earlier version of the Echo double sided hedge trimmer, it's a very good unit. I bought it about 18 years ago. I only ever use it where space is too tight to use a pole hedge trimmer, so it stays in my shed 99% of the time...

    Bush Ranger chainsaws?

Hi all, I've casually seen these chainsaws in stores, while looking to buy something else. I've never looked at them closely. Does anyone on here have any genuine info on them? TIA, Mutley :)

    Makita Killing the 6400

Makita stopped selling the 6401 here when they released the 6100. In fact, all of Makita's larger saws have recently disappeared from their website here in Australia. The 7301, 7901 & 9010 have all gone from their website here. Very sad really :(

    Throwaway Saw

Nope, it's the same here as you're used to. Only 2 mix engines in that case. The saw is a strato.

    Where are you located mate?

    Throwaway Saw

We have the Makitas for reasonable prices nation wide. Lots of hardware places sell them. Bunnings currently has the ea3200 for $299. No Dolmar branded stuff sold through dealers here though, just Smurfs. Last time I looked, an MS170 could be had for AU$249 at most Stihl outlets, including...

    Throwaway Saw

G'day mate, that black saw looks the spitting image of a Poulan that I had about 18 years ago, but painted black. It was a first class *s-wordbox & did all the stuff that you're describing. It also started to run on when I switched it off when it was hot - Good luck with yours, I threw mine in the bin!

    Small chainsaws

Have you tried using a shorter bar on the 180? I regularly use a small saw to cut brush in my trailer so that I can get more in (thus saving on trips to dump it) - If I run a 14" bar with a 53D/L chain on one of my Echo top handles, it almost always throws a chain. But with a 12" bar & 45D/L...

    ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

For those of us in Australia; Bunnings have ranged in a few Echo saws! Real good news, after the collapse of AllPower as the national distributor :) I'm guessing that now Briggs & Stratton are distributing Echo, they'll take the brand in a new direction (read into that "I'm hoping"!)...

    The new 70cc ECHO saw

We don't do brand loyalty. We use whatever does the job. The 395 runs like a champ, but it's too clumsy in the tree. In fact, it can even be too clumsy on the ground, when on steep, or awkward ground. Brand new, it never out cut the 660!

    The new 70cc ECHO saw

I'm a bit surprised by some of the negative comments about the MS660! We use one & a 395XP for blocking down big trees in suburbia. The 660 often goes up the tree, once the branches get too much for a 70cc saw. The 395 very rarely goes up there. Both are pretty much equal on the ground, cutting...

what happens with 2-stroke in a 4-stroke valved engine?

I have been running 37.5:1 mix through a Honda mower & a Makita 4 stroke blower for about 6 years. The Honda gets used at home about every 2 weeks & the Makita is a work tool that gets used daily. I've had zero problems so far.

    ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

The laws only apply to new equipment sold by wholesalers & re sellers. All the stores I visit have minimal, if any, non compliant stuff left on the shelves, whats left is pretty heavily discounted. Can't blame them, if they've still got any non compliant stock left after 30th June, they can't...

    ECHO Echo, Echo, Echo

We're getting new emissions laws as of 1st July this year. The government have decided to introduce them incrementally; marine engines & OPE are first cabs off the rank. The fines for importing non compliant stuff are significant too.

If you do that, wouldn't it be like running it with a dirty air filter?

    Echo cs260-shindaiwa 269t problem

That's a good thought, but it was running like a champ with the modded muffler for about 1,000 - 1,500 hours before it started playing up (it's my go to work saw) I have a donor saw in my parts box & played a game of mix & match today. Let's see what tomorrow brings lol!
