So I want to port my 020t/MS200t

GDA, I am new to porting and have done two saws to date. I have torn down my 020t and decided I might as well port it while I have it blown apart. My numbers are as follows: Exhaust 102* Transfers 128* intake 77* squish .019” Being new at this I’m not sure of a game plan. I was going to go...

    020t Carburetor Rebuild or Replace?

GDA, A fella brought me a couple of 020t’s to get running for him. He told me when they could get them to run that they didn’t run well. I compression tested both saws and both blew just north of 140 psi. I leak/pressure tested to Stihl’s standards and both saws passed. The saws both have...

New to Porting. Have a question on squish

Using Ronie’s suggestion I was able to determine squish is .o43” without a base gasket. Hey Stump Shot, I was looking and my exhaust is 106 already so the 108 won’t work. I trying to figure out the best way to mark the cylinder as far as widening the exhaust port.

New to Porting. Have a question on squish

Good Day All, I’m new to porting. I just finished porting my first saw, a Husqvarna 55. I’m very happy with the results as far as my work goes. I just did the intake and exhaust and didn’t touch the transfers. Squish on that saw without the gasket came in at .030”. I’ve moved on to my next...

Help me get this thing running!

I have a co-workers Stihl 038 AV that I replaced the fuel line, fuel filter, impulse, and sparkplug on using all Stihl parts but the plug. I also disassembled and ultrasonic cleaned the Tillitson carb on the saw. I then rebuilt using a carb kit from Stihl. I fueled the saw with fresh fuel and...

Which wood would make the best mantle?

Well, it took a while but my knee has finally healed enough that I could try milling. First thing I did was purchase a 24" Stihl Full Chisel chain. I filed the cutters to 10 degrees and used my Stihl gauge to lower the rakers down after the refile. I used my MS660 and it ran great and pulled...

Thanks Normzilla, she's 7 but still my baby. Had her out in the shop tonight and we cleaned our first carburetor together. I broke all the screws loose and she disassembled the carburetor after the screws where removed. I showed her how and she ran the ultrasonic cleaner as well. She is a...
