With the farmertec cylinder out of the box, without a gasket, it was .020" As of now , I haven't measured yet. How close is too close? I plan on a few fit and trims on the piston before it runs again. Right now, I just cut enough off the piston to let the motor turn over.

I did raise the ports a little, trying to bring everything up as much as I lowered the cylinder , the piston was cut because it was hitting the inside of the head, not to change port timing. The cylinder base has been cut down a bunch , and I'm deleting the base gasket.

It looks like mostly piston metal stuck to the inside of the Mahle jug, I scraped at it a little, and it looks like it would clean up. I was wondering if a soaking in phosphoric acid would lift the deposits.

I dug this one out of the scrap pile, This was my first saw. It needs a duckbill valve for the oiler, but other than that it's not bad for something that mostly sat since I bought my first Stihl back in 1995.

I bought a $7 carb on ebay, and punched out the square stamping under the louvers on the muffler , opened the louvers a bit, And sold this $25 saw for $200, lmfao.

So, what's the best chain set up for a fast cut "stock" saw ?

Got the 5th stihl running, sorry for the poor video lighting. That's a 1995ish 026, Ebay top end,just a deburr on the ports , and a base gasket delete. If I had to choose two saws and sell the rest, this and the 038 would be the keepers.

Never owned a husky , never will. Unless it's free.
