Yes, electronic carb control saws (Stihl M-tronic, Husq Auto-tune) do just fine after porting.

I got it apart this morning. It is the bearings in the PTO clutch. I will have to replace that. Not a big deal. Unfortunately, I also need a new drive belt, which is a royal PITA to replace. Thanks for all the help.

Anyone got the parts diagram before I start taking it apart?

I'm getting a bad squeal/grinding noise at the front of my X304 from where the driveshaft and clutch assembly are. Strangely, it goes away when I engage the PTO (mower deck if off right now). Is there a bushing/bearing it that region that would cause this? Any other thoughts?

Just get the saw ported. It will never run out of oil before fuel, even with the h.o. oiler in my experience.
