    Unusual Stihl 044 conrod "failure"

No other marks beside these on conrod. Needle bearing is pretty much intact. Wrist pin has only these 2 little marks.

    Unusual Stihl 044 conrod "failure"

Thought that this might be interesting. An unusual failure with a Stihl 044 10mm. Been rattling at idle, so i figured big end bearing gave out but NO. Indentations from a bearing needles on the small end / wrist pin bearing side of the connecting rod. This is a high-hour saw, but I've...

    HELP! Honda Gx200/Gx160 Piston/Cylinder clearance

Approximately a year and a half ago, my Gx200 (clone engine) rototiller was experiencing issues with smoking and oil consumption. After some consultation, I replaced the piston rings, which appeared to solve the problem. However, it started smoking again and I have now decided to replace the...

    Cs-590 5500-11000ft? Carb adjustment

50:1 or 1 part of oil per 50 parts of fuel, that is leaner than lets say 1 part of oil per 32 parts of fuel, smaller number = richer mix. Higher attitude = thinner air, which requires less fuel = clockwise But i wouldnt recommend adjusting carburetor by yourself if you dont well understand how...

Connecting Rod Big End Bearing Replacement

Well, bearings used are probably one of the standardized sizes. But what bothers me more is, usually when a big end bearing fails, connecting rod hole becomes oval and should be replaced as well, but ive never seen a chansaw conrod being sold separately.

    Stihl 064 snapped a ring !

I guess this had to happen... once.. Saw has worked for maybe 5-ish hours after rebuilding it a year ago. Brand new Meteor piston and Caber rings. I am not entirely sure, but i believe i did check ring gap, and deburred the port. After grinding, port width ended up being 32mm or 61.5% of total...

    Husqvarna quality! / Crankshaft "repair"

As sintered metal is quite porous, i left it "soaking" in paint thinner to remove any oils and then heated it up with heat gun. When i tried welding it began to splatter and burn, as it still had some oils and impurities, so i left it on wood stove for an hour or so, after that it welded...

    Husqvarna quality! / Crankshaft "repair"

2018. fairly Low hour first gen. Husqvarna 135 Im suprised to see a CRANKSHAFT made of sintered metal.. part that must endure most stress and abuse. I mean, these are low-end saws, but this is just...wow. Soft steel shaft simply pressed through and press squashed. Who would have thought it...

What flywheel for '87 Stihl 064

Damn, thats smart, and i did just that, used FW to drive the seal as deep as it goes, then put thin copper gasket under FW to go just a tad deeper. And now it fits! Both 064s came completely dissasembled, and this is the first one im assembling, so i didnt have a reference point for assembly. I...

What flywheel for '87 Stihl 064

Ok, ive tried putting 064 flywheel on another 064 crank, it fits, then i tried 044 fw on that same crank and it FITS, turns out the taper is completely the same, BUT fw hits the oil seal and cant go down further. So i just need a shorter tapered flywheel. ... ? How deep should oil seal be? Its...

What flywheel for '87 Stihl 064

Thank you for that. Ok, according to that thread, original flywheel was "1122 400 1206" ... or ... ""1122 400 1207" Coil is Bosch E1-V "1122 400 1300" And now just to figure which another flywheel fits on conical part of the crank.

What flywheel for '87 Stihl 064

So ive acquired this, appears to be 1987 Stihl 064 Arctic, but flywheel, as I have a spare 064 Flywheel laying around, i figured i could just convert it to a regular 064, but then realized that flywheel does NOT fit on a cone part of the crankshaft. What flywheel goes for this type of...
