Oregon APX Semi Chisel Full Skip

Recently got some of this for cutting up a bunch of downed/dead/dirty stuff around here and pretty happy with it so far. Cuts reasonably fast, holds an edge well and sharpens fast. Got mine from Frawleys, good service and price.

Unfortunately I have segwayed from the OP quite a bit here. Just saying that I feel the Full Skip Semi Chisel is a good performer in dirty wood, at least for me.

Quoting myself haha. Really like this Oregon chain, holds up well and cuts fast enough for me. Some old Ash felled last year or so.

Makita EA5600 as stated in my post, 20". I have no need for anything bigger. As I mentioned, I'll probably sell the saw once done with the lot.

Now if only this heat would relent a bit so I could get out and do some cutting. I was down at Cape Charles, VA for a few only to return up north to 100 degree weather... Shoulda stayed there for another week, the bay has a nice breeze...

I mean I'm not sure I understand either. I just wanted something that is simple and fast to sharpen and clears the cut well. Would I have benefited more from a semi-skip than a full skip?

Speed is not the deciding factor for me here. I cut anything from dirty old pine and ash on the ground to fresh tulip poplar and pine and it's on my own property so no hurry. I'll be cutting stumps too and some ripping of larger stuff. I'ts just hard on the chain. I'll probably sell the EA5600...

No clue, I never used semi skip. Also this will be my first time trying a Semi Chisel, Full Skip.

Change of plans, the Forester full chisel skip gets beat up in the dirty wood I'm cutting so switching to a semi chisel Oregon skip. Skippety skip.

Finally got around to try this combo. My neighbour had some cut up old pine on the ground for a while as it was too heavy for him to get up on his splitter. Phil is a 2 tour Vietnam vet and I help him out whenever he needs a hand. So I took the Makita and made it a bit more managable for him...

I think I might just not need the shredder option much so possibly just getting one of these instead. DK2 OPC524 https://detailk2.com/opc524-info

Seems to be a mixed bag for some, I never bought enough of it to have any negative experiences I guess.

I started doing some smaller clean up jobs around the property And the Archer chain I put on the Makita 36v saw is doing fine. Really have nothing to compare it to tho haha, but the little saw cuts pretty fast thru various Ash and old Pine I have around here. It does chatter a bit, But nothing...

    DR chipper..or something else?

I guess I should have added that I have a older 10hp Troy Built that is a very solid unit but that I hate to use. The engine is temperamental (Tecumseh)and bottom discharge is in my opinion just plain stupid. Basically at this stage in my life I want something I can tow behind the WheelHorse...

Thinking of buying one of these: https://www.drpower.com/Power-Equipment/Chippers-/Chipper-Shredders-/DR-Chipper-Shredder/p/CS33040BMN? Anyone have experience with these? Or recommend me something else in the same size/price please :)

Glad to see efficient advancements in this tech. Would like to see the actual battery times compared between the Oregon and say Archer chain that this thread is about. I wonder if it's a big enough difference to matter.

Because I think a 56cc saw has no business running a 20" bar but it came with it and I like the reach for certain things. Skip has less teeth to sharpen up and I'm working with dirty stuff on the ground too so it will get dull fairly quick and the reach comes in handy there. I have no intention...
