How does the spark plug look?

I want to apologize in advance or posting this in the chainsaw section but it will get more looks than in the section for mowers and more. This NGK BPM8Y plug is out of my Maruyama M30QC combi system. When I got it, it was lean on the low side and pig rich on the high side. I adjusted the low...

Husky 580 BTS looks too dry inside.

I had this blower for several years and it's been used a ton. I pulled the shroud off and took a peek inside the muffler and cylinder just to see how it's doing and it looks mighty dry. There is only one jet on the carburetor that I can see to adjust anything but it seems to be running just...

Milling by hand with a Japanese whaleback saw

Came across this today on YouTube looking at milling videos. Looks a bit labor intensive.

    Tree ID

There is this evergreen tree I saw down here in south Georgia in which I've never seen before. Definitely not native to these parts. I was thinking it was some sort of spruce, larch or tamarack but I can't identify it in any reference book or online. The needles are from an inch to an inch and...

    Zenoah RC engines

These things are awesome especially when ported and piped. http://www.zenoah.co.jp/int/products/hobby-engines/ There are water cooled and air cooled versions of these engines. Interesting that some of the engines require 95 octane and 25;1 ratio.

    I ran some 16:1

I woke up yesterday feeling like I could whip a t-rex and scale Mount Everest. Since dinosaurs died out because they were scared of me and I'm not even in Nepal now, I decided to go cut some cookies instead. A wild idea came to me to mix up some 16:1 like I was 16 again so, I dumped those 8...

Is it a bad omen to cut dogwood today?

My Mother called and said that her dogwood split at the crotch and one half fell in her yard. It is one of the biggest I've seen and my Father planted it 2 days after I was born. So I will be cutting dogwood on Easter Sunday but the ox is in the ditch. I'm not superstitious but this seems like a...

    Who makes the best ATV?

I now this is going to be like Stihl vs Husky vs Dolmar vs Echo but who do you think makes the best ATV? I've always had Hondas but Can Am has become the most popular around here in the past few years. I have a second hand 2003 Honda Recon that has been dead nuts reliable with the only things...

The official 2017 non ethanol gas prices

I'd like to see a running tally of non ethanol gas prices paid by forum members this year from different parts of the country. I bet we see prices rise slightly through the summer then have a slight downturn in the fall. Anyway, I paid $2.859 this weekend for 90 octane.

    Made some cold start videos

I would have made more but the videos took about 3 hours to load on my slow internet connection. The three trimmers are FS111RX, FS94R, & 525LS. Blower is a 580BTS.

Is Husky's Air injection still better than Stihl's?

I don't want to rustle any jimmies with these videos, but here it clearly shows Husky saws with much cleaner air filters after the tests are completed. Are the new Stihl saws still bad at removing particulates before it reaches the filter?

    Stihl FS111RX

Got this trimmer as a Valentine's Day gift. I used it a half of a day and I was impressed with the torque this machine has and it's very easy to feather the throttle. Trigger and kill switch are exactly like the FS94R except there is no Ecospeed wheel. It has instant throttle response, very low...

    US Drought Monitor website

Here is a website that monitors the drought in the US. http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/ You can click on a region and then click on your individual state. We are in an extreme drought here in GA and the rivers and ponds are drying up at an alarming rate. It's the driest I've ever seen it. This is...

If you use canned fuel check in here.

Walmart sells a canned fuel called Outdoor Factory Parts multi ratio premix which comes from the Husqvarna group. The oil mix in it is JASO FD certified (#001LTI001) which when you check the certification page it's Redmax 2 stroke oil. Click on the link and scroll to #309...

Husqvarna backpack blower owners check in here.

I've been running a a 580BTS all year long and the side mounted grip felt unnatural to me. I tried it in various configurations and found that I prefer the tube not to rotate while in use. I just used some duct tape at the joint to keep it from rotating. It doesn't look the best but it is...

Husqvarna 525LS 50 hour review (pic heavy)

Back in April I picked up a new Husky 525LS trimmer. I definitely didn't need another trimmer since I had a new Stihl FS94R and new Husky 327LDX combi tool. When I got it home the first thing I did was a simple cat converter bypass by drilling through the baffle. As per the owner's manual...

    Mower blade balancing

What are y'all using to balance mower blades? I got a Tecomec ball bearing magnetic blade balancer last year and it's way more accurate than cone balancers and the nail method. Well worth the money.
