I searched the forum for this question, but didn't find the exact answer I'm looking for....my brother just gave me a new Stihl saw (for Christmas)....It has a two year warranty, I think....I'm just getting into this saw modding thing and am seeing the gains by just fixing the muffler....I noticed this Stihl has a really restricted exhaust situation....Of course it would love to be opened up a bit, but that would void my warranty....What would you suggest I do?....Thanks!

Mod it. Who needs a warranty when you work on your own saws. Or if you think you need a warranty then wait 2 years and mod it. I bet you can't wait that long.

This is exactly how I view warranty stuff. If I can fix everything that could go wrong I don’t need a warranty.

Thanks...yeah, exactly what I'm thinking...I'm going to mod it...can't let the gubbamint ruin another good saw....

lwn9186, I was thinking about that. If they don't cost too much, but the extra probably needs a little carbon buildup and dirt...At this point, get the new one and mod it and set the current one aside...

You'll have to retune it though. Then carb limiters come out to play...
