I do miss the military and the life style. But seeing my boys grow up is awesome and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Family and friends is where it’s at! Thanks boys and those who served as well. Much appreciation.

You made a choice...kids only grow up one time, and one time only. And I respect that. It was part of my decision after 8 yrs in the Corps...my 28 yr old son was born while I was still active duty, seven years later my daughter came along. Simply decisions we have to make, all it is.

I've been helping a friend on his logging job lately. Last week or so I was running his feller buncher. This week I've been building road. Theres only a 1/4 mile left to dig.

The stand of trees I'm building road thru are Larch. They're not dead, they loose their needles during winter.

I am enjoying the perks of owning and using a 2 decades young inkjet printer.

HP DeskJet 970Cxi
IMAG0647.jpg

Ink drip pan was full a decade ago, I had cleaned it as best I could and ran the printer for a decade not thinking about it.
By coincidence I noticed today that the drip pan was over flowing, ink spilled on the shelf board and crawled to a stack of glossy photo paper which soaked it up.
Cleaning up black ink is not fun, makes a huge mess!

I forgot to take "before" pictures.

I hope to get much more runtime on this printer, it features good printing quality and automatic two side printing, can feed over 160gram sheets (cardboard), ink cartridges can usually be refilled and remanufactured cartridges work perfectly fine too, and I have bulk ink and cartridges for this unit to last me a short eternity.

Did a nasty red oak today. Top was solid. Looked easy....number two or three job. Base had an old scar, no big deal it was old and just fine. The felling cut was solid, no rot. Went up.... Took some off the top and then got ready to pop the whole top, 85 ft red oak, first limbs, 50ft. I'm down at 40ft now. Bull line is on an f250 to give it a nudge. Very expensive three story house behind it. Cutting the notch, going in, chip goes brown. Oh no. I stop. Next cut up in the bottom angle it goes like butter, ooh no. Nothing inside there. No sign on the tree but old healed up trims of lower limbs. Brown heart rot. It's hollow, but just here, no good mfer. So I'm dragging around a witness mark and it makes a crack sound. I stop...move over and reach in.....nothing...brown much....three to four inch walls, eighteen ish inch wood. I have the logs. Will get pics of the double chairs I tied off.

Got down, got some ropes and put two choker ropes on it. Triple wrapped five eights rope slug like a whoopy sling and figure eight knots on the end tags. It opened between my gaffs twice. The top went up four feet in it's crack. What was left of the hinge tore out and it was gone!

The section of the trunk I was on fell in half while loading it. No safety line was used but I had double lanyards. One is steel cable.
Take your time boys and girls. Use your better judgement and stick to it.
Troof...you will live longer.

Jeeesh Kenny. Be careful bud...[emoji106]
Experience was the teacher yesterday. Someone could get hurt or worse on a tree like this. I took a lot of pics for people to see. Heed my warning about using chokers on suspect trees. No where to run when your on a pecker pole. And don't use ratchet straps! A poor substitute.

From the top to the bottom. Check where the notch is in the split-up log with the bottom chair. They both stopped because of the ropes.

I in no way recommended doing what I did but when it's, rigged, notched and it's gota go.....it's gota go, right away and safely as possible.

This hollow end you see was in my face. That butt end is the top section but remember, it still has the canopy above it intacted. Pop the top becomes a whole different ball game. The game of the unpredictable.

These last two sets of pics tell a story if you read the bark. I had my suspicions as the assessment and first accent continued. Very few suckers but a few tiny ones just below this unknown problem area.

Cleaned up around the house, ate lunch with my wife. Tried to check the transmission fluid level in my 2014 Jeep Cherokee.....I will never own another again.

I had to take the left front wheel off to get to the fill port. After that fiasco, I could get an allen wrench in the plug, but couldn't turn it due to the allen wrench hitting the firewall and a wiring harness when I pulled/pushed on it. The cheap wheel bolts gave me a fit as well. They appear to have a soft steel cap that presses on the bolt that is easily damaged, even installing/removing them with a ratchet, not an airgun. I've always installed them with a torque wrench by the way, and you can feel the cap on all the wheel bolts rock back and forth when you change direction on them.

Nope...Praise the Lord!
A pic from real close by...it was somebodies house.
Me & some friends are going to pitch in and help with cutting up blowdowns as soon as we get the greenlight.
Looters are already out in fullforce!
Cops arrested a van load from out of town as they were ferreting through what was left of peoples homes and so forth!!!:cop1:
Thanks for the concern guys!!
BTW...40:1 or 50:1 on my rebuilt 026??
What say ye??
