View attachment 211261Thank you sir. But what I'm asking is, in this picture the point on the side is lined up in the middle of the file. On my file it's much closer to one flat side then the other. Will that effect my ability to file correctly. Looks like it was machined wrong to me.

So long as the edge is parallel it'll work. I have some bahco's that aren't true. They're some really expensive raker files unfortunately.

The edges need to be symmetrical so if you flip the file it can go right back in the same way and not change geometry. If the file has anything other than an isosceles triangle it was made wrong.

I e used quite a few of the Bahco files with uneven sides. As long as the side plate is .040” or so it will cut just fine.
I decided to stop looking at the file and just try it. First attempt at square filing.20191207_111622.jpg 20191207_111532.jpg Doesn't look like the works of art some of you post pics of but cuts pretty good.

Could someone post pics of a more work/firewood oriented cutter? I think my angles are a bit aggressive. Could be the wood. Oak, Mulberry, and cherry but I got 3/4 of a tank with the chain I did and could see it starting to fall off.

What are you guys using for top plate angles? The witness marks? From the photos, they look like 25 to 30*.
