Yep, this Tilly has been rode hard for many years, and her throttle shaft hole is getting pretty sloppy. It's an HS228A Tillotson and I'm wondering if there is any way to tighten the ole girl up or do I have to look for a younger version?

Maybe make a couple brass bushings.

Probably just time for a new model! Bushings like already posted, is about it or a larger shaft!
And after that it Could still leak air!

Well not to get off the subject but I had heard alum works wonders .Probably an old wifes tale . Maybe kegels .
That frivolity aside bushings are an option although they would be tiny little things on a chainsaw carb .On that they used to sell carb rebuild kits with bushings and a new shaft for Marvel carbs used on New Holland hay balers .The Wisconsin 4 banger was constantly ridding the governor wallowing out the carb body and egg shaping the shaft .

I saw this post and thought I’d pop in for a quick “ that’s what she said” joke, but I see there are several other sick b@stards ahead of me with their own funny pervert jokes.

I feel cheated.

On a real level, perhaps some minor machining of the orifice and a bushing or sleeve like suggested if the carb is truly difficult to come across. What model does that carb go to?

I’ve got the same issue on a 163a sitting in a 266se. I’ve thought of calling Tillotson directly

That Homelite 2100 HS Tilley is a big one .If I get some time I have the Tilley cross reference some place telling what was used on what .Fact the 2100 Husky has a large rascal too .Try as they might it takes fuel to make power .

I Called the Tilly America number
Spoke to a nice guy at VE Peterson’s
They had everything in stock for a HS 163A on the 266SE.

Bushings, 49 cent each
Return Spring, 89 cents
New Shaft, $5.50

I didn’t ask what shipping was. I’m hoping it’s less than $5

That's wonderful, this information for vintage carbs needs to be stickied somewhere.
