After figuring out that the blue wire from my Model 47’s coil was on the wrong side of the black insulator block, I got a great blue spark which was the original problem. Next, the reed valve block had been installed upside down, resulting that the impulse port could not line up with the carburetor. Got that straightened out, and the neighbors got to hear another loud Poulan go after some wood!

Just wanted to make sure the PP415 was 100% ready to go to new owner in Jan. 24" full comp 3/8.

The one that has the updated AV, PP505 tank and air filter set up.

Also ran the G660 some and did some noodling.

Hi Poulan people.

Currently working on a 20D, I think.

Was wondering if there is a standard methods for removing the old ‘impulse line’ from the crankcase entry?

Thought I would ask before I started chipping away at it.

Have some experience with S25DA and the variants. This one looks to be between that and the plastic models.
First, tell me where the fuel cap is.
Hopefully Steve or anyone more knowledgeable than me will come along with educated advice. I'm not sure about that line. Were there any remnants left of it from where it is shown in the picture?

Fuel and oil is as below.

The impulse line ran from the entry to the crankcase I have shown into the oil tank, with a little check valve on the the tank end, to provide pressure from crankcase impulse, and prevent oil flowing back to the engine.

I just tried to pull the line out, it crumbled apart, ending with what I have shown in the picture.

I might be able to get better access if I pull the cylinder, otherwise it looks like I will have to push the old pieces into the crankcase.

In which case I really should be splitting the cases to ensure all the impulses line fragments are cleaned out, I was hoping there might be a magic way of avoiding this, wishful thinking

Huh! Would have thought tjat impulse line would have had a barb sticking out for the line.

Haven't worked on that style saw, just only pulled down my s25a to see what damage the engine had.

Scored a gray craftsman (3800) at the salvage yard; was missing pieces but p&c looked great and fired with dribble and compression at 125. Bought and installed clutch cover, AF, AF cover, b&c, carb kit all the while wondering why it was stripped; ALWAYS a reason.
filled it up and figured out why it had been sacrificed. Dam fuel tank has tiny split at the filler neck. Had looked at it but missed seeing it. Tried fixing it with soldering iron but no happy. Not the first time I've had to replace a tank.
So!! Anyone got a fuel tank for 3400, 3700, etc they'd let go? Got green stuff and parts for trade

BTW Steve and anyone else that I gave the crank seal part number to, maybe dont trust those yet. I havent had time to go back into it, but its got an air leak again.
Turn it on its side and it idles up. Seals might not be right, or I may have damaged one installing.

If its a craftsman branded poulan 3400 the seal number is:
SKF 6119 (double lip)
SKF 6120 (single lip)

3400 parts saw in back has a tank. Up on the shelves. Will pull and check and shoot you a pic.

For pressure testing i always dunk in bucket of water. Guess im not observant enough to detect soap bubbles. Also, very small leaks cant hide when in a bucket. Just sayin

Thanks much. Onliest thing i dont like about these saws is the freakin fuel tank neck. Cant bring myself to toss my leaky ones. Still think i might eventually devise a repair. Not yet though
