Hey guys, is a cylinder from a 461 and a 460 interchangeable?

I have a 461 that must have pulled some crap into the intake and scratched the cylinder up. The piston appears to have some shiny scratches as well. I haven't pulled the jug yet as I was cleaning up after cutting today and found the scratches. I will pull it sometime in the next week or so...

Kinda pissed as the saw is only a few months old. I modded the muffler so a warranty claim is out the window.

I'm not sure how tight you and your dealer are but I've talked to mine about things like that (he mods saws himself) but he told me as long as it was something you didn't do like straight gas or run it lean whatever,he would take care of it. Might have to pay labor but parts would be covered. For what it's worth.

He and I are on great terms. I buy all his scrap pro saws dirt cheap and rebuild them. I order a TON of stuff from him, parts, saws, trimmer, etc. I will talk it over with him on Monday.

I will do the work but will see if he can help on the parts cost. Good suggestion man!

I would hope he would help you out. Sounds like you're a great customer!! I myself can't see how a dealer would turn you down on warranty work if it was not the customer's fault. I do have an unmolested front cover for a 461 if you need it.

Who makes the rings for Stihl?

I just picked up a Stihl MS461 OEM piston and cylinder kit. The rings are marked KO MC25, which I assume is Koma?

Are these rings legit Stihl OEM?
