O-rings work great for sealing a clutch drum needle bearing once you get two that fit just right. I've tried 3 different sizes of o-rings on the inside of this 261 drum before I finally got one that seals the back of the bearing perfectly. The outside o-ring I've got on there now is very close (the OD is barely too small, not perfect yet), since it still held some of the grease in the cage after 2 tanks of fuel. My metric o-rings are picked over pretty bad, so I'll get those restocked on Tuesday and swap that leaky outer one.

O-rings will last for a couple years on there easy. All I do is clean and repack the bearing with synthetic grease every 8-10 tanks or so. I'll post up the size for each o-ring needed for the 261 once I've run a few more tanks through this saw and I'm sure they are holding all of the grease in.

Having both a stock & ported 261 you sure realise how well they respond to mods. A well ported 261 completely changes personality. Some saws like my 200T, Solo681 etc are just fine stock but the 261 loves some porting and timing advance.

I've been told they respond very well to modification.

I cannot take credit, it is how they dumbed down the theory of operation so they could explain it to us mechanics at the service school.

Useless trivia: Does anybody know who pioneered this technology?
Redmax think that's why husky group bought them

I know it's an old thread but mine can run 2 tanks of gas to one tank of oil and yep it's been turned up flat out since I got it about 2012
That’s eating fuel pretty good, unless you got the oiler turned down or it’s stingy.

I do not. I cabbaged up the 346s I could. But......those are long gone.

I now have 372XP OEs new in the box for sale though.
Those Mastermoobs 346's are flat terrible, mine especially... Everyone should send me theirs to spare them from further deforestation (and to support my habit)! The one we have that randy did is a pissed off scalpel. There's no other way to define it. It really hauls the mail in Hedge, and that's where torque truly matters.

Hedge sure makes good firewood. Matt left a stick here one year after a gtg. We cut and split it...hot burning stuff.

Hedge is sparky stuff when the air hits it about as bad as mesquite.
It will sure bring the temp up though when trying to keep temp on a full reverse flow smoker in sub freezing temps.
