You say you're 2 meters deep? That's a little further in the ground than I would prefer to be, with no shoring on the trench walls.

Yes, normally that depth is dangerous without some protection at the walls but luckily the ground is hard clay (you can see it at the "slinkys" picture) and the walls were very stable.
And moreover clay is the ideal ground for geothermal heatpump, very wet, very huge amount of energy to absorb

I made a video of me setting a corner post. I wouldn't blame you if you didn't watch it, it's long and kind of borning, just making a hole in the ground. :risas3:

Finished floor... stamped and sealed. I think it’s a nice look. And Saves money on flooring.

Did some work on the local cabinet shop... installed corrugated metal on the entire 92’ wall, installed Hardie vented soffit, and removed the warped fascia board and replaced it with metal. Finished it in one day.

My buddy bought some fancy reclining theater seats and wanted to build a platform for the back row to sit on... lucky for him I had some extra joists laying around to frame it 14” high like he wanted it. Also added some underfloor storage, just in case.

Very cool Clint - Nice work. Does the corrugated tin go right on the plywood or do you use some kind of treated paper/felt underneath?

We put it right over the old plywood siding... when it was built it was wrapped with felt paper.

On new construction I would use OSB or plywood for sheathing, then housewrap, and then put the metal over that.

Redoing four porches at the MIL house.

Using Timber Tech tongue and groove. This stuff is amazing. Very easy to work with and should last forever hopefully.

16ga staples holding it down.

Pictures don’t show how good this stuff looks.

We’ve had a Timber Tech deck for 11 years , and it’s held up really well. My only complaint is that the integral drainage weep holes get clogged with dirt and debris, and need to be power washed once or twice a year. For a small porch it might not be much of an issue.

That’s great to hear, the mother in law just bought this stuff and I didn’t have time to research it. Seems solid. Very easy to cut/staple/screw.

how does it deal with moving furniture, plants and such across the surface? Any noticeable major UV fading?

I have four of these porches to do. Lots of wood rot to repair also. This house is from 1884.

as you can see a lot of sistering of existing structure.

It can tolerate a fair amount of abuse - over the years our dogs' toenails have caused some minor surface scratching, but we haven't had any issues moving furniture around on it. Like all of those composite decking boards, it can get a little brittle in freezing weather, so you don't want to drop something heavy on it when the temps are in the 20's or lower; I doubt that you get much of that weather in Savannah! Our deck has faded a bit, but not as much as I would have expected over the years. One word of warning - a friend warped and melted his Trex deck using one of those portable fire pits, even though he had it elevated a bit off the deck...
