Over the weekend I picked up some resetting steel targets that I'd ordered on sale from Midway.
The short ones are 10" overall with an 8" circle. The taller are 12" with a 5" circle.
I have a bunch of rounds with big knots and crotches, that I've been putting off splitting. I'm going to haul them to the range and mount the targets on them.
They should make shooting a bit more interesting.
The springs can be removed and the targets used as falling plates.
If they work out like I think they will, I plan on getting a couple more sets.

Very nice. Are they rated for rifle rounds?
No, standard non-magnum handgun.
The armor is 1/4". For rifle 3/8" is the minimum.
I'm sure some where along the way a round or two from an AR will hit one.

I need to find some lighter springs. At 15yds a 40gr CCI mini mag, shot from a Ruger MkII won't move them. A 250gr KT bullet from a 5" .44spec certainly does.

100_0202.JPG 100_0171.JPG Couple of the steel targets that are here. The white one is at the rock pile @ 200 yards. The other one is a pistol target, As I have three more of them for close range. They were all made in the shop with the welder. The white one weighs over 60# and is set at 200 yards for rifle shooting, with a back ground of a giant rock pile. ( the white one is made of plow points which are doubled up for rifle impact at 200 yards.

A few pics of my falling plate rack.
3/8" AR500. The steel would be fine with rifle but the welds would quickly crack.
I only use pistol calibers on it.
I shoot nearly every weekend so I try to buy commercial grade targets.20190407_155849.jpg 20190407_155929.jpg 20190406_164002.jpg 20190407_155849.jpg

That looks extremely well made.
Also looks like a bunch of fun.

It's a crowd favorite for sure.
Plate racks are, by nature, high maintenance. Even the best welds eventually crack.
I try to keep the ammo used at target velocities but volume eventually will take its toll.
Most of my shooting buddies reload to 165-170 power factor, so it doesn't see anything "+P".
