I can’t remember how long ago I received this but it’s always been one of my desires to have an 038magnum. Haven’t been able to afford a runner because they seem to go for a lot...anyways...

It’s been a while since i looked into the numbers and measurements but I believe this to be a 038 magnum. This will be my first ever rebuild and obviously it’s going to take a lot of work. I’m posting here because I know next to nothing about this and have very few tools especially for specialty matters. I just would like to get some wisdom and guidance from others and learn a lot and I appreciate anything provided. This will be a long term project probably due to time and money but I want to do it. So here is the project...

I will of course provide better pictures and I thought I had some but apparently not. I’m at work currently but wanted to go ahead and start this post because I’ve been putting it off for so long. I believe my obvious first step is to pull the jug and verify exactly what saw i have here...hopefully some will help with that as well. Thanks for anyone who joins me and helps me through this! Any ideas of what I should start with other than pulling the jug let’s do this!!

Clean it. Pull the jug and see what's inside. Check crank, bearings.

Well I guess in this case I’m in luck because before I saw this message my first response was going to ask what you were talking about. I figured you were referring to a reputable person who maybe did porting but I kept reading and I don’t think that’s what’s going on. [emoji848]

I’d love to hear the story sometime because it definitely sounds interesting.

Ok that was my first plan was clean and pull jug. I don’t know how to necessarily name the crank and bearings though.

Check the crank big end and see if it's worn. Feel it for loseness. You can see the bearing through the counter weight if you shine light to it.

Thanks I will try and do some of this tonight if I get a chance. Does it need to be cleaned thoroughly before pulling the jug to prevent debris falling in?

It appears you have been confused with Manofstihl066.

I’m sure it’s not the first time.

My apologies for mixxing you up with someone else. The other guy took advantage of the kindhearted and giving forum members that all pitched in to help him, then turned around and spit in everyone’s face.
I’m happy that it wasn’t you.
Best way to know what you have there is to pull the cylinder (like was already said) and measure the piston or cylinder bore

Definitely not me. I’m from Texas. Haven’t spit in anyone’s face but I have upset a person a time or two lol.

I appreciate everyone stopping in my thread so far. I hope to not let y’all down with my ignorance. Like I said it’ll be slow paced as I’ve got 3 kiddos that get most my time. All boys and the oldest 2 just decided they wanna start learning to play baseball...

Pretty sure that dickhead was *s-wordcanned about a month after the 064 flew off the tree...

Whatever this event was keeps sounding more wild. And I’m glad I was not here for it. Is the 064 a reference to this same event?
