Hence the topic. Trying to decide if I should rock a scabbard or a hard case for my PP330. Leaning towards a scabbard, but wanted to hear what y'all use [emoji2][emoji482]

If you have one saw a case is fine. Cases take up too much room on the shelf if you have multiple saws. Many saws dont fit well in a case either.

Im a scabbard kind of guy. Sharp chains can tear up the truck seat when i take them for a stroll!:D

Not an 'either-or' situation IMO.

Scabbard protects the chain and anything it might touch.

Case protects other things from leaking oil, the saw from incidental damage, and lets you keep a few spare parts with the saw.

Most cases let the scabbard stick out, so you can leave the case in your truck (or shed), and carry the saw with just the scabbard to the woods with you, if you want.

No box. Rarely use a scabbard anymore after this. View attachment 202763

I have a very similar setup I made for my truck. I used a router to make the holes for the bar to go through, so it's not open on the top.
It's kind of a pain to put a 32" bar through it, but thats not often.

I didnt have anyone to hold the board. I figured my luck if I bore cut it in the truck I would also hit the box and fugg up my chain, not the truck.

Looks like this. I had borrowed my Dads when I was making a bench, so I used it to cut the slots.
