When I get a chain that has jumped the guide bar, I have to clean up burrs on the drive links.

Couple of ways to do this. But if it results in that area being misshapen, I might take a few passes with a round file to clean it up.

Not something I do as part of regular sharpening and maintenance.

I'll do it once maybe twice during the life of a chain, especially full size 050 3/8 where the tang gets sharp/pointy. Either a round file or holding tang and touching grinder wheel. By squaring it up oil will move better around the bar. Its usually the sides/edges of the tang that get damaged when a chain jumps. This is maintenance for the oil system to work properly. Most don't even consider it.

I think the Dolmar manuals say the same for chain maintenance, though it has been a while since I actually read a whole chainsaw manual instead of just skipping to the specs page.

I know I considered doing the drive link tang maintenance thing but it never caught on to my maintenance routine.

I also barely ever jump a chain, maybe two three times in the last decade the most.
Loose chain = stop saw

I see the tang maintenance being useful for carrying oil, clearing the bar groove not so much.
