Regular 024’s are pitiful stock. No torque. The 024 super with the increased stroke runs a bit better.
Yep I bet this doesn’t help.

Thanks Julian, I thought I was just bias cause I own a muff modded 462!!!

At the CT GTG everyone was Ga Ga for the 500i, and I'm thinking … where's the beef???

I think a 7 pin would favor the 462 even more, as the 500 has more torque, but the 462 more speed. FYI, I'm running 7 pin 20" light on mine.

It cuts right with my 10 mm 044, and the 044 has more mods (winter air filter, timing advance and base gasket delete).

IMO, after 30 years, Stihl has finally come out with a suitable replacement for the 044 … and it is lighter, has spring AV, and M Tronics!

STIHL have lost the plot ...... the 500 should be at least 5 seconds faster it has more cc's and FI .
I'm just waiting for hoosky to bring out a 90 odd cc FI saw and if they do I would bet it will tan the 500's ass .
The 500 and 462 aren't even similar in their power band. The 500 can be pushed on much more without losing as much chain speed.

When Julian stalled the 462 in the first cut right after running the 500i that tells it all for me for the powerband. Both impressive, but I’d be buying the 500i if I could afford one. Just my preference, I like dem torques :). Lol

He was running an 8 pin with a 28" bar … not what I would do. IMO, 7 pin would not have stalled!

Gee, I wonder who said something similar to that!!!
