Thanks! As Drew mentioned yesterday I am running a Walbro HD12 right now. I have the Zama but am not finished with the mods I wanted to do on it. Should be finished within a week and I try it on the saw.

Thanks my friend! I will try and correct as this saw will get a good bit of run time in the coming weeks!
The tune actually sounds fine to me. Hair bit rich on the high side maybe. What I've noticed after they get shut off is that the needle leaks. I'm guessing maybe a longer spring, or some shims. The tank vents are supposed to build pressure , but the needle and seat are supposed to hold it also

Thanks Kevin! What about it taking a while to come back down to idle?

Normal. If it returns to idle slowly after a long cut, it would be the high side that was too lean during the cut, causing the heat. Yours was 4 stroking as soon as the log got smaller, so it wasn't that.

I just saw above where you said you were running the walbro. I'd scratch my explanation of what I thought was happening with the needle. That I know of, that problem was only on the Zama

I’m about 1 3/4- 2 turns out on my ported 7900 I think depending on outside temperature. Too fat or too lean kills power. I tune any saw where they want to run, maybe a touch fat for long cuts with a big bar.

I assume the Zama carb and is it stock or modded?
