Several times now it has not been the carb. Trimmer, hedges chain saws. Runs fine the first year then trouble starting and eventually stupid working altogether. Each time it ended up being the spring spark plug clip. The darn thing has a bend where the wire in the clip pokes through the insulation in the spark plug wire. The problem arises when the piercing misses the wire in the cable. Removing the cable from the plug a few times dislodged the connection and caused the failure to start. It was fixable without replacing the ignition coil. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Yes I see it here and normally install a 90 terminal from 7mm wires but crimping it down to 5 mm can be a pain. At least doesn't break the wire anymore.

Never liked the wound wire type for this very reason.
You'd see units come into shop for hard start or misfiring issues due to them.
Wasn't too uncommon for it to be, after, the owner had bought 2~3 spark plugs and had eventually stripped the plug hole threads during their frustration.
