I run an echo 5 days a week, and love their top handle saws but why are they trying to make the ugliest saws ever made? Imagine pulling that saw out of the bed of your truck and showing it to your father in law lol.

That's how all stihl guy's run their saws.
Hey, I wasn't running that saw! Just catching it to protect myself. Jeremy had some wise guy standing on top of the log pile throw it at me. :)

041 is my only Stihl; but let's face it, everyone has a skeleton in the closet somewhere! But I don't think of it as a Stihl cause it's such an easy saw to work on! :D 041's have one of the best sounding idles too.

Funny part was that it is a Super or Magnum or whatever they call the 72cc version. And a couple of the hardcore Stihl guys weren't even sure what the heck it was. They also seemed surprised at how strong it was. Maybe cause 041's are usually the far more common 60cc. Certainly wasn't out of place with most of the other 70cc class saws there. I'd put it on par with a Jonsered 70E.

Why the heck is Bob saying something nice about a Stihl here on the site where he can't take it back later? I don't know. Just back from the dentist with an exploding tooth and I'm on some meds maybe? I gotta keep my mind on something til this stuff kicks in or I'll pick up that 041 just like I did in the pic and amputate my head with it.

The Stihl guys run their saws and make money. The Hooskie guys fix their saws on the side.
DING, DING...

I love the sound of an 041 also 075 is good also, in my opinion the 041 is one of the toughest saws stihls ever made also.

Now back to our regularly scheduled echo 70cc saw discussion :hum:

The front handle geometry seems like a departure from previous models. More like a husky and less like a stihl.

Sorry. The Stihl guys started the derail, not me. You can always depend on them, that's for sure. :)

Has anyone run one of these Echos yet? Any samples in the US or a launch date? Someone posted earlier about a hoped for $600 price point. Would get noticed at that price. Maybe not in a the typical logging/arborist market as we know it. But other firewood/landscaper type customers looking for a 70cc saw; especially if they are already Echo users would consider it. $600 is hoping for a lot, but $700 would still be a good deal.

At a bridgeport equipment the other day
They sell stihl and echo full product lines.
That's where the little echo pic
I posted came ftom.
Actually a very uncomfortable saw
In my hands.
I've ran 490 and 590s a lot
Solid saws good ergos
But that new one didn't suit me.
Hope the 70cc is better balanced.
A guy walked in when i was there and and said i want a good sized saw
20 inch bar.
The counter guy handed him a 391
Guy bought it.
That was the entire conversation for a 600.00 saw.
I think if the echo is around 600.00 it'll take off like the 590 did in the 60cc market.20190731_141809.jpg
Stihl does scabbards right
2.00 for 20" 1.49 for 18"
I bought their whole inventory
Echo scabbards fall off and huskys cost 10.00 per here.

Hey I like 'em all and I'm as excited to try this one as I was to try the 572 and 462. Just a gentle attempt to steer things back on topic nothing more.

I can see Echo selling them in that 6-700 sweet spot somewhere. I think @Red97 mentioned getting some time with one?

I'd like to get one when they come out.

First samples were tested at least around mid-2017 on both sides of the pond. The competition unit was run in WLC last August. So testers are obviously around it's just not much chance they are here and will speak.
It ain't a firewood saw anyway ;)
