OK. So I'm cornfused here. Kenny got an 084, cleaned it up. Sent it to MMWS, then Heath ended up with it?
Interesting.

Right porter & model saw, Wrong 084 peddler.

He must be out cutting 60" trees. None of them in RI.

I think Kenny must be stirring his sauce and covering the pot.

No just studying pistons.

Is anyone running Cross pistons in 088 084 saws? Just asking. DD is out of Meteor 084 pistons on the bay :-(

Have not test run the saw yet since I found the problem and cleaned up the oe piston. Been busy with stuff and stuffs.

The semi chisel full comp needs attention and Dallas is sending me a fresh loop of RS and a few others in 404.

Bar needs cleaned up and go find some real wood to test in or put it on the mill.

What piston and wrist pin are most of the builders using for this saw other than OE?

The reading is confusing and contradictory on the web. I have nothing here to measure them for clearances used or new.
I'm guessing use a Husky bearing, Stihl wrist pin and clips with Caber F cast or OE rings.

Nobody said *s-word about the Cross piston yet

Here we go again.

The Cross piston package is the same weight as OE. The OE wrist pin is a gram to two heavier....a first for me on Stihl parts vs Meteor or others. Is the 088 880 wrist pin tapered?...I forget.
This one is not.

Going to be running it some with the ports cleaned up and an OE piston, rings, wrist pin, clips, base gasket and a Husky bearing. They look almost the same. Stihl added one feature to the same bearing more than likely. I'm not chopping up my muffler just yet. Opened up the single outlet and removed the screen. Still hunting for an OE HD filter base. None of you guys want to sell me one so.....no choice but to buy AM or make one.

Going to get the smaller studs soon for running 12mm mounts.
Have a back up saw slowly coming together.

Not much else report on it.

PM me with useable parts. Not interested in high priced NOS stuff. Work saws here.

Three questions I have about 084

1. What are the years of sales in the USA?
2. How many years did they produce red lever saws?
3. Did Stihl ever change the oil pump to 088 style on the 084 saws?
