But they can all be made to perform the same with mods.

Check the videos I just posted earlier. There is little to no difference in cutting speed between the two models.

My unofficial timing says the Makita EA7900 (PS-7910) was actually a tenth faster in the cut. Same bar and chain.

That is my point they are all similar. Even the 6400/6401/6421, they can be made to pefrom similar to the 7900/7901/7910/PS/DCS.

Steve, I watched your video and I'm still in the dark.

My conclusion - you film other's much better than you take selfies!!!

Stock against stock the true and original "7900" will take the cake and walk away from her successor the "7910" - that is my best guess.

Modified, depends on the level of mods, skills of the individual modifying the saws, which direction the mods are aimed torque or rpm.

During this discussion You may have missed it , but @SOS Ridgerider just posted that he got an OEM "7900" cylinder (left hand DeCo, non SLR outlet) featuring a side slabed piston.

That should tickle some of You guys.
@Marshy did You get Yourself one of these for Your saw? I know You asked for one a while back.

I ended up buying a cheap AM top end from HL Supply on a black Friday deal. The saw I have is a basket case and I didnt spend much money. I wanted to try my hand at porting so I figured why not try on the 7900 with a cheap AM top end... I haven't done anything with it yet. I probably need to acquire a gasket kit and bearings also.

Had the cell sitting on a cookie on a pine log in the rain!

First video is a low hour PS-7900 all stock.
Second video is my Demo EA7900 with the SLR chamber in the muffler and the lower rpm coil.

Same bar and chain and both saws were about identical in cutting times. Maybe a slight edge to the new saw.

Video was to prove the newer model does not have less power. But I need to get better video showing it.

My motivator was having something to bring to Randy's GTG if by some chance I have the ability to go. Likely wont happen unfortunately because I have a busy summer planned and already plan on going to NY GTG and to Buckin Stock in MI.
