Looks like there is no divider in the air filter holder like a 372XT, so a little spitback must be getting into the strato as it is... no?

Increase wear where?
Other way around really, stratos gutted so some of the mix is diverted through them, then yes.

With stratos intact all of the mix first goes through the low end where it’s needed.
With gutted stratos part of the mix bypasses the lower end and goes straight into the stratos and then into the combustion chamber, neither of which benefit.
