Are you gonna powder coat the cases Dan, looking good so far

Thanks. I think I will Oisin. I noticed that at some point one of the case halves was replaced. Probably the PTO side, as it looks much older than the rest of the parts.

In the crankcase to cylinder opening there is a mismatch that requires a bit of grinding to open it up and match to the flywheel side.

I never really examined it when I bought it Dan, only a quick glance over it and put it away, only thing on the cases it that it was previously opened or so I thought

They are both really good case halves. It's really no big deal.

It would run perfectly fine as is, but since I'm going to match the halves might as well give it a new coat of the shiny stuff....:D

What you have there is a poly short case pto side mixed with a ms660 fly side.... good luck trying to get those to seal. Check out my thread crying the 066 blues. Case volumes between the 2 are different so gasket wont match good, then seal surface just infront of cylinder below muffler will have poor gasket support

Do you do your own powder-coating Dan? I've had a lot of stuff done by Mike (Glock37) and his powder-coating is much tougher than factory coatings.

I've got a Harbor Freight setup and I use Prismatic powder, JJ. It's good enough for the saws that I'm putting together.

I haven't come across a builder over here that I want to spend the extra money for shipping to send it to Mike yet.

I was thinking of sending a 9010 case to him, but it was pretty badly cracked after getting the paint peeled back.

Once I get a hold of the right saw, I'll have Mike hook it up.

Actually, I don't have a similar problem to what you described in your thread. The cylinder mating surfaces are flush on my case halves. I'm talking about the opening of the crankcase.
