Does that tractor take DEF? I’ve been pondering a new one for tax purposes and was looking at a 5100M and 6105M.

Go Big Orange.

I’ve thought about those too. Even another Kioti is an possibility. All I’ll be doing is Feeding and maybe some hay. I’d just assume to buy it all and not spend all the time trying to put it up.

Nice Tractor.

This is my 70hp that I use with a Solesbee’s 72” Brush Grapple: they now call them Grapple Rakes. This one new was $2,800.

I’ve got a buddy that runs 95hp skid steers that has destroyed the more economical Grapples. Understand they are ok for smaller machines, but you don’t have a small machine. He is probably going to but my Solesbee’s because he is tired of the cheaper ones failing on him. I’ll explain why mines for sale in a moment.

Now,
As you can see, I run a Utility tractor for my Tree Service. I’ve asked Solesbee’s to build a Log Grapple. The flat bottom Brush Grapple is great on a Skid Steer, but it becomes challenging to see well when put on a Utility Tractor.

We’ve owned other Solesbee’s Grapples for over 20 years using them on Case Skid Steers. Grandfather bought the 2nd one they built.

What’s a Log Grapple you say?

Young’s Welding calls them a Root Grapple, but it’s a similar concept.

I’ve been after Travis with Everything Attachments for over a year to build a Wicked 74” or 78”.
Reason being, the 66” is the largest they offer with the full length lid, & I don’t like running over stuff, mashing it into the ground. I want a grapple as wide or preferably slightly wider than my tire tracks so I can get everything in the path.

You will too on that machine.

Solesbee’s is considering building me what I’ve described.

Mr. Young out in Kansas doesn’t want to build a 78” Unit because he’s set up for the 84” model, hasn’t sold nearly any of the 72” models, & recommends I go with an 84”.
Dump trailers are 83” wide on the inside & I don’t want an 84” anyway.

If I were you, I’d,
1. talk to Solesbee’s, call & ask for Lee Jay,
(770) 949- 9231
2. Message or call Travis with EA,

Tell them you want a 78” single lid strong grapple like I just described. I need a bit of support here.

Why not just go with another make?
The lighter weight Grapples will come apart on your machine just like they have on others.

2. Winch-
• Uniforest or
• Farmi

See my Barrett Brother’s Uniforest 45- I’d go with an 85 on your tractor.
I’m going with the 65H for my machine.

That’s why I like to build my own. Custom fit and actually holds up

That doesn’t sound awful on the price. Meade is who I have closest in VA and Greeneville TN. I don’t know if I need that much tax write off though. I think the 6105 came in around $78k

My 70hp M7060HD-12 with selectable 4wd, loader, auxiliaries, R4s, & additional light package was $45k~.

A 300 hour Kioti in that size with no grapple is $27k. A cab one the same is $30k right now at the dealer near home. I haven’t priced any of the Kubota. I priced the Deere at 90hp and up since we had the bright idea to get a true 5x5 Baler. I’m glad we scrapped that idea

@hseII , I have looked a few different ones BUT I have to stay with Frontier for now since it supposed to go in the new tractor. Stupid purchasing issues! I looked at EA and like you, wanted a wider unit. My bucket is 78” the grapple rake I’m getting is 77”. They now have 1” tines.

Have you looked at Rakemaster? Blue Diamond here in Knoxville makes some extreme duty grapple rakes as well. I’m going to get one of their rock bucket/grapple combos for picking up large rocks in the fields after disking.

I may make a skidding winch out of a hydraulic winch that was mounted on the dozer blade of a fire plow. I’m not sure I can swing a new winch after pricing them.

Thanks for the input

Please reconsider some of the “off brand” tractors. A friend and coworker bought a Mahindra 70 hp and the engine blew three days shy of the warranty ending. Got it repaired, then had an electrical fire due to the gauge cluster shorting out. About lost the barn because of it. He’s had nothing but issues and parts and dealers are hard to come by.

However, I have heard good things about Kioti, but I worry about dealers coming and going. Deere, CNH, and MF will be around forever.

I agree with Dustin with a couple reservations.
Product support is really the primary concern, especially if the machine provides a livelihood.

I'm very fond of the LS machines because so many companies re-badge them.
Support can come from many companies in the LS brand, plus they are very well made.

I had a DK65 Kioti cab/4x4/loader before. The hydraulic pump went out and they replaced it free of charge. The one dealer here has been selling them for 10-12 years now. One of our New Holland dealers sells mahindra now. Said the warranty claims are lower on them.

Here’s a good question are you wanting to lift or skid? Have you looked into a swinging grapple? The grapples you guys have been posting are brush grapples which work great for that purpose but really for handling logs aren’t the best option.

Swing grapple on the back, with a brush grapple on the front would be a sweet setup
