064 external crankcase seal oil leak

got a oil leak on the crankcase seal under where the muffler lives.
haven't pulled the jug yet to see whats going on inside but the rest of the seal looks good.
if it is all good except that little spot id be kinda nuts to crack the case.. what would be a good option?

some type of head gasket rtv sealant?

Did you check the case bolts? That could be your temporary fix because you will have to split it apart at some point. I've never had any luck trying to rtv something like that, you'll never get it clean enough to stay.

yeah i checked the bolts.
mm maybe ill look into a case splitter then, everythings already apart anyway

Either way I figure a plug over the surface would stop it.

well anyone know the thread sizes on the crankshaft, pto and flywheel
think flywheels 8m not sure about the pto side
its a stihl 064

Flywheel is M10-1.0.
PTO is M12-1.0 Left hand.

And external band-aid over the leaking gasket might slow down the leak.

manual says the flywheel collar nut is m8x1 and i tested that nut at a hardware store it is a m8
i believe the pto is 12 though

might try some type sealant if the internal parts of the seal look okay but i duno. havent pulled the jug yet.

OK JJ gets first chance after OP but only one seal there. I think it is the small 064 one and hard to find. Mike
