I want to make a few board out of bass wood to start. Figured I would make a hand built chain saw mill out of some threaded rod and some 3/4 ply wood about 8 inches wide.
I had planed on useing my Jred 2159 to do this with the biggest bar I have a 20" model.
But after readding a bit I might be better off useing my Husky 162SE with the same bar.

I would like to know what size threaded bar diameter I should use?
I ordered some ripping chain for thre 20 inch bar a couple days ago.

Got my bar drilled today, Did it in steps small drill some where around 7/16 then 3/8 then 1/2 inch. I guess I will be useing 1/2 inch threaded rod.

I measured from hole to hole and figured I will be able to cut a 14 1/2 inch wide plank, board or what ever.

Not me, an old tree in southwest St. Louis. Man turned said " it's all mine".
Soft wood is a place to start, take the time to learn sharping including depth gauge for chips instead of dust.
