Was that 550P significantly heavier than a 590?

I believe the 550 was the same as a 600 or 620 with a smaller p&c. Probably why they dropped it. The 590 was cheaper and more power same weight.

I seen a 4510 FS for 150 already used somewhere. I seen it was clammy type built when I looked in to it.

It's a common thing but let's analyze generally (also note it comes with easy starts and other weight-gaining stuff) :
2511- lightest
310- lightest
352- lightest
370- well, sorry. At least good feature package and relatively huge stroke and outcoming torque
420 (400 in US) yep, sorry again though it's survivable 200grams from H440
390-very light, long stroke, it's unavailable in US :(
4510- lightest per power
490- lightest 50cc before 501 was released
501- lightest 50cc
590- decent weight if you compare with what it was made to compete with
620- lighter with both dogs than now 562xp with recent aluminum crankcase which probably stopped falling apart
And so on...

Basically this all "very heavy" comes mostly from certain guy who once upon a time heard somewhere in northern country that ECHO produce less power (= less torque on ~10k RPMs) without having a clue how they cut with higher load and after run-in. Don't get caught - it's generally misleading ;)
The 361p is a very light impressive little saw too just a little expensive.

Its a great little saw, and weighs nothing for it's displacement. Loads of torque for it's size, too. We have one on the estate. But my issues with it are tiny filler caps and low reservoirs. But that's the price you pay for small and light.

Pardon the derail, but do you know what the bore and stroke are on the 390ESX? I did notice it doesn't wind up like a 360 will.
I doubt the 390, (which was released in 2013! as a SHindaiwa) will ever come to the US. It's not a cheap saw at all. It's the USD equiv of nearly $500, and I have seen it often retail far higher. It's basically just a minituarised 452S. I think it's worth every penny, tho. Very strong for it's size(especially with the cat removed), and very small for it's size ;)

390ESX has the same stroke (33mm) as 501 :D And tremendous compression. And it's strange it doesn't accelerate fast - it actually should. Re-adjust or run-in and re-adjust. Lovely unit :D

I had a new echo CS-550p which is a pro grade saw. It was 55cc's & similar size/weight to my 7900 & 681. I ain't going off what I 'heard' or 'read' just first hand experience owning/running the saw. There were some great things about it like walbro felt filters and top grade components, it was built really well, just WAY to heavy and large for a 55cc Pro-saw. I like/run most makes I'm no cheerleeder for any brand. I even like Echo and mentioned they hit the nail on the head on 'some' models.

I hope you didn't get me wrong - I wasn't trying to be offensive for sure. Sorry if I sounded like that. 550 for sure isn't the joy and pride of weight/power ratio but it's more an exception than a rule ;)

Mines still running a bit rich for break-in. I think I got it at 13,300 or so. We'll see how she does once she's broken in. Even so, the 361 we have just zips. Both have their cats removed. But the 361 has a very gutted muffler.

I think I saw a 390sx rrp for something insane like €599 in Italy on the freakin official web site. Wait.. I guess we can just fact check that now can't we...

https://www.shindaiwa-italia.it/prodotti/motoseghe/motoseghe-superpro/390sx

About $680 at todays exchange rate. I wish I could sell them for that. BTW, If anyone wants one(CS390SX or ESX), lemme know. But shipping is gonna be painful most places. It'll drop ship from my wholesaler in the UK.

Also, I just noticed it's rated at more HP than the MS241. True or not - Niko would like that...assuming he's still about? Anyone heard from him lately?

241 probably is(and should be) a bit ahead - there is no replacement for displacement :) yet it's very close being fair 4ccs down:

I never was a big fan of the 241 after I spent some time with one. I think the 261 is a better value. Not much more weight and way, way more power - same price. And responds much better to porting without gutting the stratos. The 241's main advantage is it sips fuel in stock form.
BTW, I own a 390ESX because my MS241 died :(...again. Blah. I am growing tired of electronic carbs.

Something I dunno if folks noticed or not, but that Stihl is running lo pro while the Shindaiwa is running NK 325. SO not entirely apples to apples.

Yes I seen one at their demo day at the local dealer. I was just as unimpressed with the 4510 as I was impressed with the 2511. He said it was their ms251. It is heavy for a 45cc saw but it looked even bulkier. It looked as big as a 590. And that triangle starter cover should be illegal.

The 2511 needs a muffler mod.
