For anyone who missed them when they were the "Door Buster", HL Supply has these as the daily deal today.

I'm running one on a 460 with Meteor piston and one on a Hybrid with OEM piston, both run very well. The porting on these jugs is great, just need some clean up, and I've not had any problems with the plating.

They are also easier to modify for a Hybrid than OEM. Just slot the holes, thin the sides of the base a bit, and a very slight mod to the fins on the front left to clear the bulge in the top cover for the plug wire.

The jug I put on the 460 (w/o base gasket) was sq .025, Ex 103, Tr 124 and In 72. I moved the In to 80. Most importantly, the transfers are beautiful on these things, although I added bridge ports to the Hybrid, and it seems to like it.

I always like a great deal!

No I didn't, just didn't like the looks of them. The strut supports are level, instead of angled down, and the windows look tiny, I would not use them w/o opening them up.

So I used a Meteor in the 460 and used OEM in the Hybrid.

Thanks for posting Mike. It’s nice to see you’re having fun.

These kits may not be the best for a professional cutter, but they will cut a lot of wood and get many smiles per gallon.

Their price point can’t be beat and the good OEM jugs are drying up.

I’m planning on adding an 066 oem jug to a 460 if I ever find time to work on my own saws. Stay tuned for that one.

Wow, that should be interesting, have not seen that one done before!

I wonder if the Cross jug, designed to fit the 064, would be easier to adapt?

Would you just run a taller piston to make up for the increased stroke? Perhaps a 461 BB piston? The pin location in a 461 piston is way lower.

If I am following correctly, all the jugs have had variances of +/- a few degrees on every port from one another.
When you are done with them, are you at the same #'s on all, or are you going with different numbers on each to see how they react?

Is that second set of numbers not too far from a stock 10mm? Well, they had two different barrels didn't they? I forget.
I am gonna prolly need to replace the piston on mine soon enough as I see a hint of scoring on the exhaust side. I haven't even measured it enough to see if I can remove the gasket yet, tho. Got any pics of cylinder work for reference?

I have not ported a stock 10 mm jug. My 10 mm has a base gasket delete and a timing advance, and runs like it is ported (but no port work has been done to it). The 044 I played with is a 12 mm straight fin jug, and I only lowered the intake on it. I believe the exhaust needs to be widened to run right.

Hello.
Realy intresting tread! Im in the middle of a (very slow) build of a 440 and a 460.
I have a rather stupid question , but since i can not figure it out on my own i have to ask.
Where is the cables for the kill switch supposed to go on these? There is a square hole just above the coil, but i can not find a rubber peace to protect it, or between the case and the start cover like on the 660s?

Best regards

That is the hole, just find a rubber grommet that fits in there and allows the wires to go through.

Good luck with your builds, two of my favorite saws. Put a 20" bar on the 440 and a 28" on the 460 and most of your bases will be covered!

My 440 ran very well with just a base gasket delete and a timing advance, but I've seen others that will not. Unfortunately, I did not port time it. I should have.

I'm crunching oak on a 25" without any problems without the timing advanced yet.

Thank you!
I dont have a grommet that is even close to fit, so i may have to take a trip to the local shop.
I have a 24" bar, the longest i own, on my 395, so 28" on the 460 might seem a bit odd...:)

If i understand right it is possible to fit a 460 top end on a 440, but how about a 54mm 460 bb kit? I have already put mine on the 460 so i can not check for myself...

Best Regards

I have never heard of a BB 460 running very well, maybe just no room for the transfers.

I have a 460 that Dr Al ported that runs very strong. Randy was kind enough to give him port timing #s that he said I would like … Randy knows I like torque!

24" is a good size for the 460, especially since you have a 395.
