My grandfather bought a 245 Massey brand new in 1976. My dad used it for years as his primary farm tractor. It is still the tractor I use most. In all the years I’ve been around it I can’t remember even a handful of minor repairs. It does have the fabled Perkins though.

Very nice. Are they still made by Iseki?

This one has a Shibaura engine, sticker on the chassis says "Made by Agco in Indonesia". Better than Chicom I suppose. According to this article, Iseki is the manufacturer. You will notice they make New Hollands as well.

To be fair, MF has always been a very international brand with plants all over the world. The first Fergusons were made in England. From what I understand, the last 100% USA tractor maker was Farmtrac; they purchased the old Ford plant in NC and continued some of the 80's and 90's models under their name.

The newest new Holland tractors at least 75hp and up spear to be made by case.

Pretty sure Case and NH are the same company.

Yep, or owned by the same one anyway. For quite some time now. I don't know exactly how long, but I know my tractor which is a Shibaura was badged as both New Holland and Case, and that tractor came out in 1999.

Here's one of my firewood tractors. I normally run the splitter on my new Holland, but I set it up this way to do a job last week for a friend. Since it's on there now, I'll use it until I need to put the winch back on. By the way, that round of elm, which doesn't have any knots, wouldn't go through my 4-way. Just laughed at the 2500 psi in a 5" cylinder trying to push it through. To be fair, that particular 4 way pretty much tries to split all directions at once, rather than splitting in half, then having the "wings" a few inches back. Most of the time it's no problem. Actually, elm is the only wood that really is a consistent challenge.

I want to say it happened in the mid-90's when Ford let their ag business go.

Not a firewood tool, but I'm pretty excited about this score. Never used Gannon box blade. 72" with hydraulic scarifiers. Older guy bought it and decided it wasn't gonna do what he needed so he never even hooked it up. Bought a D4 dozer instead. Got it for less than a third of MSRP. Had a very nice chat too. Guy had several old restored Deere 2 cylinders in the hanger (we met at the airport) as well as a plane he built and a couple of corvettes. One was a '69 he's owned since '71. Fully restored. The other was a '73 I think, partway through restoration. We got this thing loaded up without scratching anything. :)

Ford purchased New Holland in 1986. Fiat purchased Ford New Holland in 1991. Fiat acquired Case and merged it with New Holland (CNH) in 1999.
You can find the history on their corporate sites.

What happened to their earlier venture, Fiat-Allis construction equipment? Their dozers and graders used to be common as dirt and suddenly vanished.

Geez, sounds like a very Byzantine way to run your business to me. I think they could have more easily built a new construction equipment brand from the ground up or just rehabbed Fiat-Allis.

1954 Massey Harris Pacer. Nice tractor for snakeing around in the woods with the trailer.

Makes a very good snow plow tractor also. It is a bigger (HP) engine and different seat than the pony.

I bought this 1946 Massey Harris 101 Junior I bought from a fellow in Ohio for antique pulling. The curcuit went south before I could get it finished up.

This is my 1951 Massey Harris 44 4 cylinder, I also have a 1947 44 6 cylinder, 1953 44 Butane 1951 44 special diesel, and a 1951 44 standard.

This was its first pull and dad took a second with it.

Yeah all parts stamped CNH now , I noticed today on the front axle of the New Holland it’s on the casting as well
