My buddy's 2017 2500 HD puked the trans at 52k miles. The dealer has had it almost 3 months now “waiting on parts”. They gave him a 2018 1500 as a loaner; turd. Put almost 3k miles on it and they just gave him a brand new 2019 Z71 as a replacement loaner; has less than 200 miles on it and he hates it.
Love those 300 I6 engines. As long as you keep oil in them they will run forever.
There are people who put turbos on the I6, don’t see how it would hurt anything on the 300 other than the head gasket. Very popular mod on the Chrysler slant 6, make excellent power and can usually get complete engine from junk yard for under $100.
Im thinking your buddy is getting fed a truckload of chit.
Other than the case itself, torque converter and plantery gear sets, I'm pretty sure we have almost every other part in the 6L series trans on our shelves.
