Ahh. I got you. [emoji106]
I was noticing the same thing on my 6100 Oregon box chain. Seemed to be cutting better on my 2nd and 3rd filing compared to brand new OOB chain. Now I dont feel weird. Lol

I’ve seen several of them. Not near as many in the 2015 and up saws. Most I replaced were back in 2011-2013 years. Some didn’t make a month running ported in the woods out west

I did some investigation on the IPL pages between 385/390. The crank shaft and small end bearing are same part number on all the years except the 2001 first year 385 IPL. Maybe they changed the big end bearing or supplier and didn’t change the part # through the years? Hmm. I’m still gonna say run at least 40:1 or richer in these or the 372xtorq like has been stated already. Good saws... but need more oil in the mix it seems. More so the 372 of any variation because of the smaller 6202 bearings I would guess. Smart choice for husky to use 6203 in the 572, taking into consideration most people outside of the forum run 50:1 mix.

Autotune/mtronic and eventually fuel injection are a great idea when they are working properly imo too. Most people don’t even know what a tuning screwdriver is or how to tune when they buy these 1,000$ pro saws, and it ain’t necessarily there fault. The manufacturers put limiter caps on them and only allow dealers to have access to these tools. The result seems to be people not changing tune for the entire life of the saw, or compensation for changing temps. When a saw breaks in, most of the time they need richened up. Add into 50:1 mix which is skating the “edge” possibly and it is no wonder failures happen. At least that’s the way I look at it guys.

I like how a check out my new saw thread turns into a wealth of information thread! So much knowledge shared freely here! I have gotten several saws from a fellow arborist that were burned up or had bearing failure... All husqvarna and all still had the limiter caps on them. He knows tree work but doesn't seem to knowledgeable about saws... Not that I am but I try. I guess they are just a tool for a trade to some people.

Well, thanks to a good friend it looks like my 390 will be on it's way back into service sooner than I thought. I have a known good crank on the way. Got a few other things to do yet, but I will be ordering a new Meteor, bottom end bearings, seal, and a gasket set pretty soon. Probably after we get past Christmas

Husky forum on facebook. Was basically told Im a azzhat cause I dont believe in the newest, latest, greatest, autotune saws. Sorry , but this olfogey can tune a saw just as good(better) than new fancypants puters can.
I kno how burbly I want my saws to sound. I also kno how many million miles of chain my saws will run after lean running , fast revving, plastic caged crank bearing new fangled POS's have pucked. No I am not compensated by husky usa. No I run 288's n a 394 by choice. At 32-1 with sharp chains n clean air filters, they should outlast me..

Yeah, I'm in a couple FB groups... Some good people passing along good info, but also a good helping of BS at times too. I don't even get involved in the asshattery, just sit back and watch

Don’t look at the bearings in your 390 and possibly 394 then. You’ll be upset with the plastic cages. The Facebook groups are worse than these forums in a lot of ways. I was active in about 10 groups and now I check some every few months.
