Don’t overthink it. I cut about 15,000 bd feet on the landing today with a 562 on 50/1 and it’s just fine :). I do however think saws benefit from more oil in the mix. They will be more “tolerant” of abuse such as subpar chains and blocked cylinder fins. I will be mentioning to my boss about the benefits of 40:1 the next time he fills his gas jug. Few extra cents gallon shouldn’t hurt anyone and you get better long term longevity. Keep the chain SHARP, clean the saw often, good mix gas/oil and saw will last a long time. Pretty simple really.[/QUOTE]
I run 40:1 in my ported saw but still run 50:1 in my stock saws. It is a PITA to mix and carry 2 different ratios so I'm gunna run all my beaters on 40:1

I just talked with my boss today and he puts 2 gallons of gas instead of 2.5 for the 2.5 gallon mix oil things. He has 4-500,000 bd feet on a 390 I think he said and it’s treated him good.

15000 feet a day it wont take but a few months to do 400 500000 feet. Hope they are lasting longer then a few months. Ppl
He’s had it for about a year I think he said, loves it. Still looks good to me too. 400,000 bd feet is probably more than most people do in 10 years on saw cuttin a cord or two firewood a winter lol. Loggers put a lot of cut time in!

You don't like Angry saws???
The chain is what we’re talking about. I like the chain to where I have to hold back just a bit to keep it from stalling leaning on it, yet bore good. Takes me 4 filings or so to get most stock chain where I like it. Semi chisel doesn’t bore worth a crap. I can make it eat on the landing bucking dirty logs... but for felling I prefer chisel.
