50:1 is fine with good oil honestly. It’s just less “idiot proof” at that ratio and the saw less tolerant of abuse imho.
Idk. How many 2 year old 372xt's are out there with crank bearing failure? If these saws were nearly 4 stroking in the cut, then maybe. Or running more oil. Like my 385 video the other day...those bearings were swimming in oil

I know a lot of parts are the same between the 372's and the 385/390's
Are the Clutch and Drums the same?
I can't remember if they are or not. I have a 385 in a box and I know it don't have the clutch and drum on it.

Seems like I swapped them back and forth before.

50:1 isn’t good enough at any tune when you start tearing a bunch of them down. At least not to me.

Yeah my cylinder looks nothing like the one you posted Dave.

My crank isn't THAT sloppy either. Now I'm starting to scratch me head a bit
Joe.
Long shot and more by way of observation really. I notice the strap casting has been broken over the flywheel and shows some sort of chem metal that has also cracked. Could you be getting a bit of noise from that ? Also the flywheel fins show sign of damage ...I wonder why .

Good observation Simon. Yes, a fastener got in there at some point and damaged the flywheel and case strap. The rattle is not coming from that though. I was able to reproduce the rattle albeit quieter by gently rocking the flywheel back and forth but I hand and then with the top end removed. Good eye though neighbor :)
