My "new to me" 390xp arrived today! Needs a few things but dang it's everything it was advertised to be. I don't mean to brag, but I've been itching for a 385/90 for quite awhile and I'm excited as hell to address the couple things it needs and try it out!! :D
Enjoy your big bore 372! That’s what they feel like really.

Just so everyone knows, in these work saws, it's not compression that's killing the starters. It's too much timing advance and from not finding top dead center first.

Although be added compression doesn't help matters
Not for nothin, but I feel this if nothing else is good reason to push that lil button before pulling the rope. I'm sure it's not the end-all be-all, but it has to help .

Can't push a button when it's been plugged....

That being said, the button fixes the problem 100% of the time

Looks very strong Kevin !!
How you think it compares to mine ??
Square chain ??

Yours has a drilled rwj carb on it with 2 or 3mm bigger venturi. So it's a bit ahead of this one.

And yes, square ground chain from the vid yesterday

I had this one tuned just below the 13k limiter figuring it would heat up and lean out a little. Guess not . She was gasping for air in the 2nd video

that thing ate that log for a snack! Very nice! Does that mean u need to put an unlimited coil on it for full power? What size bar?
I meant blade:D
A 346 coil is unlimited and will bolt right on. I don't really want a 385 or 90 freewheeling at 15k rpm, though. The power is the same in the wood, regardless. I just figured it would lean out some or I would've turned it in 1/4 turn. Can't hurt it to run rich for the first tank anyway I guess

I hate the limited coils on these. Really like to be at least 13,200 work tune. Which is just a touch higher than that limiter annoyingly enough . Just makes it easier to dial in tune unlimited. The advance is more on the limited coils too. Mine started to pop after it got hot with I think about 1/3 off key 13.3 coil. Swapped in unlimited and no more popping.

14.1k 346 cool is what I like to use on them.

The one I busted the recoil had no timing advance on it.
