He said he is not a member of any online forums at this time!

Thanks for asking. I guess when you see so many work benches some of them start to look alike. Anyhow, I’m not sure if he knows what he’s doing or not , but he lists a different Saw for sale about every week. He’s even had piped saws on there and the pipes themselves for sale.

You’re right about the benches, sorry for interjecting that squirrel.

4 hours isn’t that bad of a drive, grab a friend to ride shotgun and have some fun on the trip. Bring a compression gage, a scrench and a flashlight. Pull the plug and look inside the cylinder, if it’s not scored buy it. OR, grab one of the 288’s for sale here, some nice saws have come up lately.

I've got a bit of a story for my blue top 288. I dont mean to drag it out but here it goes. My dad bought a new 288xp in 1989 and wanted it to have full wrap and high top. The dealer didn't have one in store but he had a low top 288xp and put a blue Eliminater kit and full wrap on it. The agreement was to give the blue top kit back when the oem high top came in at the dealer and dad did that. Dad gave me that saw a few years ago along with all the paperwork. Its taken a few years but I've got a blue top Eliminator kit back on it. I showed the dealer his original reciept and he was dumbfounded. That saw was $795 then and triangle files for square filing were $2.95 each. My dad was surprised when I told him that I put his ol saw back to what it was when he bought it. It was just a tool to dad but its much more to me.

I’m grateful for the switch back to blue top. :)

Winter is about kick our butt here predicting 12"18. Maybe putting the 288 in the back of my truck.

How did I miss that, have to change my Craigslist searches
Did you end up getting that 288 on CL? Won't bother me if you did. Would rather see someone here get it anyways.
