I've got 6 MS261s on the bench......and I'm doing the transfer entrances different on 4 of them. Then I'll run them all with the same B&C in the same wood, and video each cut. That way I can be sure which way made what differences. Without that sort of testing......it's tough to find real gains. Just making a little bump on a piston ain't anything ground breaking. LOL

Ok, I got 3 550s on my bench doing the same thing. I'm litterly just doing working on these for my own entertainment. I'm not trying to take over yours or Scott's work. Internet maybe forever, but im.not trying to win a popularity contest.

I don't often have 4 of the same model here at the same time. But I take videos and timed cuts of every single saw I do and try to use the same size and species of wood. I can't have perfect results that way, but I can usually feel or hear if what I did differently helped or hindered

Nothing is about popularity in here man but manners go a long way, it doesn’t matter who you’re talking too. Next time you get an answer you don’t like or don’t understand simply ask questions to further the discussion for your benefit and everyone else’s. Chest thumping “prove it” exchanges benefit no one and as you now know, are very unwelcome here.

Ok, I guess timing advance, pop up, base cut and changing port timing are mild mods. My apologies. Didnt realize there was so much more you could to do a 550xp to make them wild. Im.not offended, I'm just questioning what he's saying due to the fact it's not in line with what I've been told and found so far.

The shot went off when you took that hot start issues was caused by over heating, if the saw were overheating we would be seeing piston seizure issues instead. The carbs on these are getting too warm to and percolate the fuel to vapor lock the engine. Generally caused by shutting the saw off for a short while and the heat soaking into the carb box. Usually a push of the primer button rectifies this situation. These are two entirely different situations - overheating and hot start.

How's that working out for you?

Kind of a shame, really. If you look back at the likes you received in your first few posts in this thread, you'd see that the forum was genuinely interested in what you were doing. Shortly after that, things went down the *s-wordter.

Next time Scott tries dropping you a breadcrumb trail, pick up the pieces and make a sammich

I have a 2013 that was obviously overheated. Pressure and vacuum tested fine.

Some young dumb ass ran a dull chain on it for three days in midsummer?

Idk maybe, they came from tree monkeys neck of the woods. Not putting any understaments here they actually came from Wisconsin.
